about last weekend . . .
If you caught my stories you’ll now know a few things.
The first and most important being that I am a wacko. Like, a bonafide loony with a full serving of toon. It’s important we establish that on a regular basis. Because the truth is, I introvert HARD, and have been known to not leave my home for days on end; however, God thought it would be super funny to put an extrovert INSIDE my introvert, to create this hybrid creature that, quite frankly, scares most people.
Secondly, you will know that I have a—yes, we can call it an obsession with White Chocolate Covered Oreos. They come out once a year and I literally go through a box, sometimes two, a week and don’t feel even a little bit ashamed.
I am in my studio at the moment and I just watched a squirrel the size of my shoe carry a pinecone the size of my child up a tree.
Let us be clear:
I AM THAT SQUIRREL and THAT PINECONE IS MY OREO.
Thou shall not pass.
So when I ever-so-sweetly asked a Target employee where said Oreos could be found and he said he would “call someone to ask,” I fully expected him to return with their precise location.
He did not.
He told me they didn’t have them.
I managed not to instantly collapse at his feet and sob, but politely told him his answer was “Unacceptable,” and “I NEED THOSE OREOS, BRO,” which made him laugh, which told me CLEARLY he was not understanding the gravity of the situation.
Fortunately my husband and I decided to double back and make ONE last attempt to find the Holy Grail of desserts.
At this point, I was starting to tremble and fear for the safety of those around me.
Just then, with a blinding light of Michael the Arch Angel, my husband turned the corner carrying, not one, but FIVE BOXES of Oreos, (bless his heart), and the world sort of shimmered as I held them close to my bosom, whispering sweet nothings to my sweet everythings.
Now tell me what is YOUR favorite holiday treat?
