#TWS #flexibilitywheel has even made it out to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico! For #contortionists like @wannabebendy who target different sections of their #backbenders - Using your upper or middle back area over your #flexibilitywheel #stretch backwards grabbing the edges of your #flexibilitywheel and push to shift the centre of gravity to release some weight from your legs. This will activate #hipflexors and give you a chance to lift both legs up. Open the legs into straddle. Lift and lower several times. For reference: I can lift around 20 cm off the floor both legs. Keep bottom on the floor and curve following the wheel as much as you can. And... go!

This is my Q... basically an extreme pretzel! From a kneeling position, put your feet on the wheel, then lean back to hold the wheel with your hands, and push your hips up.

Other side of the Ballerina variation. Let's talk about this one.
There are two opposing forces in the pose.
One is the stretch you are performing on both legs (again they are going in opposite directions, with one folding and one straightening). The other is the curve of the wheel against which your back should bend.
This is a dynamic stretch insomuch as you are aiming to curve your back around the wheel (more difficult than it looks) whilst the rest of your body is engaged into an opposite stretch.
I have an unforgiving straight back in the photo, partly due to pretty serious damage to it last year. It ought to be more wrapped around the wheel.
This is a move which conditions my body to focus on a backbend to be achieved actively and not as a result of passive gravity.
Because it is active, your body decides its limits; as it is the case with flexibility wheel conditioning and exercises, the wheel makes sure that you don't overstretch: it is an obstacle as well as a tool to improve your flexibility.
