Music really brings out so many memories. Love flowing to great tunes and seeing how my body interprets the beats. โค
This song had a lot of air play around the time that I met Oz. About a month after we met (a month during which we barely spoke), we had our first date and six weeks afterwards we were engaged. Six weeks after that we were married.. and this song was everything. We had people who tried to interject their thoughts about it, about how soon it all seemed, or the question: "what about having a wedding? You deserve a wedding." We didn't know what could become of it all, but when you know, you KNOW. Time is irrelevant. It was all very intentional. It was pure magic. He was familiar. And my soul danced with his. We flowed. He is my twin flame. There has been crazy times in our lives together, but we have maintained a love and dedication to each other, despite when it felt like the world was crumbling around us, despite the distance, despite our time apart. I'm ready for the next step in our lives. Ready for the 10 year mark on which we can celebrate with everyone, where we can reflect on all the challenges we have been through throughout the years, and the power of our love to thrive beyond them. โค

When I was younger, back in Singapore, I was ostracized for being dark skinned. I remember one time when two Chinese girls were playing outside my ballet studio, and I was watching them play while waiting for my next class to start. One of the girls turned to me and asked if I wanted to join them, but the other girl told her not to play with me because I had dark skin (not Chinese). I was young, like 5 or 6. And I ran to the bathroom and started crying. But, because of that, I was determined to prove myself. When I was 7, I won my first international ballet competition, and every single international ballet competition after that, which led me to the prestigious Juilliard School. I'm thankful that God made me different. Because of this, I eventually founded @radhabeauty โญ๏ธ The heart of this company embodies self love, and loving and embracing your imperfect self. I recall when I first started Yoga and I'd heard the cue "engage your core" to me that meant nothing, all it meant was suck my belly in till I turn blue ๐Ÿ˜… Once I learned and fully understood the bandhas that cue started to make sense to me. .
So how do you "engage the core"?? Here are the cues I use-
.
Inhale, lift and expand the ribcage, .
Exhale slowly drawing lower ribs towards eachother,
.
Draw hip bones up to meet those ribs.
.
Now drag both hip bones towards eachother.
.
Feel a cage wrapped around your stomach and spine. Performing this in a seated comfortable position will be a workout in itself. ๐Ÿ˜‰
.
To engage mula bandha -
Draw sit bones towards eachother & pubic bone and tailbone towards eachother. .
To engage uddiyana bandha - The space between the navel and pubic bone should be drawing back and up towards spine under the ribcage . (Upward root lock) .
Now hold all that and don't forget to breathe ๐Ÿ˜‚ Next time you're asked to engage your core you'll now know what the hell it means ๐Ÿ˜‚

โœ…So I recommend holding plank for 1 min. .
โœ…Side plank - 30 secs each side. Keep shoulders stacked and hip lifting up towards ceiling. .
โœ…Boat pose - 5 breaths x 5
.
โœ…Hollowbody 45 secs. (don't forget in Hollowbody, lumbar spine is flat!)
.
You don't need to do all of these but feel free to give them a try and work them into your practice. .

I've gotten a lot of questions about my stretching routine! ๐Ÿค—

Old gymnast habits die hard!
I typically stretch 1-2x after Workouts to maintain my flexibility a week.
If I'm tight, I do more.
This is a lower body routine that I typically do.
I have more stretches that I also uncelebrated but this is the bulk!
If you want to be more flexible..you have to be diligent and work on it everyday!
Holding for more than just a few seconds! The girls I coach in gymnastics hold their splits for 2 min after every practice on an elevated surface! ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿฝ It's not enjoyable, but it's worth it.

PSA: Your body is already summer ready. If you want to loose weight/increase muscle/tone up/slim down/lean out/bulk up/tan/shave/etc... DO IT FOR YOU, not because societal expectations tell you you have to look a certain way to rock a bikini (or a speedo for that matter).
