Who is Old Saj? -
The essence of the saj goes back to a simpler time, where you couldn’t just pop over to a corner store and buy a loaf of bread.
The saj stove was the warming hearth which fed thousands of farming families, who would gather around the hot metal dome; the family’s source of nourishment; for a serving of home cooked bread, before heading out to the fields for a hard day’s work. -
Today, we no longer work in the fields, but the old tradition of the saj still survives in small pockets of the world, and to this day, the saj has kept its place as a centre piece in my family thanks to my mother who carried on the tradition of making home-made flat bread for loved ones.
Follow us on our journey in carrying on this tradition halfway across the world; this is a passion project in creating and sharing hand-crafted, simple but delicious, heart-warming Lebanese street food, inspired from my mother and grandmothers recipes which still carry’s on today in the foothills of Lebanon.
Made from Scratch. Made with Love; on the good Old Saj.
Stay tuned for our creations!
