Meet Cameron Raguse! Cam is a two-time MarineQuest alum from our OCEANS and Oceans-17 programs. “The fieldwork and academic focus of both MarineQuest camps is really what drew me to them,” Cam said. “At the end of it all, after both summers, I had reaffirmed my interests in studying marine biology in college.”
When asked about his favorite experience with MarineQuest, Cam said it was “one of our first dives with Oceans-17 on a wreck called the Pocahontas. We saw numerous sand-tiger sharks and it was the first time I had ever dove with sharks so it was pretty special. Having those dives count towards getting Advanced Open Water certified was an awesome added bonus.”
Currently, Cam works as a gap year instructor at the Cape Eleuthera Institute in the Bahamas, where he leads activities focused on marine ecology and adventure education. However, he will soon be leaving his position to pursue an M.A. in teaching in biology!
