A Song of Fire and Ice, in honor of the game of thrones premiere! This idea shamelessly stolen from @cocktailchemistry. This drink is a little tricky to make, but if you get it right, an awesome (flaming) party trick.
Step 1: You will need some round ice cube molds - fill them and freeze them for a few hours to get an ice shell in the shape of a sphere.
Step 2: Add your favorite flammable liquor to a glass (I used 57% whisky)
Step 3: Gently break a hole in the sphere and empty out the remaining water.
Step 4: Gently poke two more holes and put a long skewer through the sphere.
Step 5: Shake up your favorite whisky mixer and add some blue curaçao for the 'ice'. Shake it well so it's cold and doesn't melt the ice faster than it has to.
Step 6: light your flammable liquor, and set your ice sphere over the glass
If you do this right (and the fire in the glass has enough air), it will melt the ice and the blue 'ice' will cascade into the red/amber 'fire' extinguishing it, and creating a cool color mix while at it!
