It was my last night (this was 8pm) in olgii before I set out for the bulgan border. Here's one of my favorite spots where you just look out at the entirety of olgii, and you can spot the movie theatre/markets/etc. where herders try to get their unruly life stock back to the safety of their pens. It was such a cold, tranquil time. Sigh ❤️❤️🐮🐐🐪😌. Also knowing the typical relatively unreliable promises between drivers in the black market, I was pretty damn sad I was leaving olgii because everything was smooth sailing here. And I had the most amazing experiences. Still pretty excited because I loved the idea of crossing country borders by foot. They say solo travel's scary but I always told my parents to stop worrying-because you're never truly alone. Except. This next leg I was. I knew no one in Urumqi waiting for me across the border, wasn't entirely sure how I would get there either. Also a village along the way was quarantined and cordoned off because of hand foot and mouth disease. I wasn't sure how much time that would cost me. #gradtrippinwithgenghis #mongolia #bayanolgii #journeytothewest #crossingborders #herdlyfe #westernmongolia #nomads #travel #damnbrightatnight #solo #fiveveralone #ig_mongolia #backpacking
This was the perfect spot to say goodbye, and thanks.
