I LOVE working with pregnant women. There's often so much fear of the unknown. "What exercises can I do? What should I not do? Will it hurt the baby? Will it hurt me?" I love taking the guess work out of it for my clients. Every one is sooo different and I really enjoy putting the pieces together and helping the women through it.

Many times it's getting you ready for your new life as a mom but it's also about helping you manage your life right now safely!

And there's so much more to an exercise program for my in-person and online clients... mommy mentorship movement 😉❤️

Last week a new Canadian Guideline for Physical exercise during pregnancy was released. The last time it was updated was 15 years ago.
.
There are 6 recommendations:
.
➡️All women without contraindication should be physically active throughout pregnancy.
.
➡️Pregnant women should accumulate at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity each week.
.
➡️Physical activity should be accumulated over a minimum of three days per week.
.
➡️Pregnant women should incorporate a variety of aerobic exercise and resistance training activities to achieve greater benefits.
.
➡️Pelvic floor muscle training (e.g. Kegel exercises) may be performed on a daily basis to reduce the risk of urinary incontinence. Instruction in proper technique is recommended.
.
➡️Pregnant women who experience light-headedness, experience nausea, or feel unwell when they exercise flat on their back should modify their exercise position to avoid the supine position.
.
Guess what?!
.
Its GOOD to exercise during pregnancy.... EVEN IF you haven't exercised in the past. The long time advice of "Do what you have always done" isn't current and I'm happy to see the Guidelines changing to support this.

It's truly amazing how the internet has worked it's magic over the years. When I was home with a new baby (or 2!) I would have never thought to hire a trainer online. I’ve pushed my body hard physically and mentally for the past 2 years, it’s hard when you are told you need to slow down and take it easy...

But I know that this little guy growing in me is the most important thing right now and I can go back to pushing hard as soon as he’s here!

When I'm in the city my #pregnant #powerwalk is replaced by a #treadmill and #strengthtraining - always in the morning. I just love moving my body in the first few hours of my day; it wakes me up and charges my day with positive energy! I'm #20weekspregnant so I really take time to listen to my body and what it needs, wants, and can manage safely. Here's a little #gymselfie showing off my #babybump❤️

I hear a lot of new moms have back/ shoulder issues from carrying around baby, car seat carrier, diaper bag etc. Doing my best to avoid it if I can 💪🏽.
🏋🏽‍♀️Considering carrying around a kettle bell 24/7 to help build some endurance and core stability but until then I’ll just keep at back day with the usual love I have for it ❤️😜.
I used @corporate_sneakers back and biceps workout today and I so enjoy all the cable pulls + added some eccentric hangs and tri- dips just for fun.
▪️2 mile warm-up with Scout 🏃🏻‍♀️.
▪️3x20 wide grip lat pull down.
▪️3x16 one legged barbell curl.
▪️3x15 v-bar cable row.
▪️3x16 one legged dumbbell hammer curl.
▪️3x12 bent over barbell row (overhand grip).
▪️3x12 single arm dumbbell row.
▪️3x15 weighted back extension ➡️ but I did the seated back machine because #pregnant 🤰🏻.
▪️1 mile cool down.

It's completely normal to sign up for your next HALF MARATHON at 36 weeks pregnant right?! Holy moly.. HOW does he talk me into this stuff?! But if 13.1 miles isn't incentive to get my post-pardum booty in shape, I don't know what is.. and for an AMAZING CAUSE! I know my nutrition program and all of my at-home workouts are going to get me back in tip-top shape!

We are officially signed up for the St. Jude Half Marathon on December 1st!! I can't wait to run for some incredibly strong and deserving children. 💙

And my training partner isn't too bad on the eyes either. 😘

It's been 3 days since I have pressed play.
My body was screaming for a rest and a little grace. And honestly, this morning 3 days of no workouts almost became 4.

But then I remembered that in less than 3 weeks, I won't be able to workout.

In less than 3 weeks, I will be recovering from my 3rd c section.

In less than 3 weeks, I will have a 6yo, a 3yo, and a fresh from heaven baby to care for that doesn't care how I am feeling.. They just need their mama.

So, I have strapped my laces up, squeezed myself into some of the only leggings that still fit and I am ready to sweat for a quick 30 minute dance cardio workout.
For my sanity. For my recovery. For my family. Because everything I am doing NOW will payoff in less than 3 weeks when I am going to need a healthy body the most. 💙

I can't do a burpee. I can't stand up without grunting. I can't even touch my toes. But I can dance. For 30 minutes a day I can press play, forget the world, and dance my heart out. I can get my blood flowing, bring oxygen in my lungs, and feel some endorphins rushing. And if I'm really lucky, I might even have a handsome guy or two join me. 😍 Who said burpees were essential to a good workout anyway?!

#bumpwatch I'm so grateful with how my body is still keeping up with the gym..Where I have fallen off the wagon is food...esp now with Easter.. Hot X buns are my damn weakness! Trying to incorporate more low intensity cardio into my daily routine..but after yesterday's brush with heat stroke I'll be walking indoors till dry season comes and brings some reprieve! Still sleeping well (apart from the urination interruptions!) Based on last times experience this was the time i stacked on most of the "baby weight" i.e my weight...so I'm gonna make sure i dont over do it in the food department! Luckily I have a 15kg human to carry around most of the time! #30weekspregnant °
