This will be my meet recap from yesterday but first I'd like to thank my sponsors, they play such a huge role in everything I do. First I'd like to thank @boadapparel for taking me under his wing and guiding me in the right direction, he's been there from the very beginning and when it comes down to it I know I can always count on him, it's very humbling and motivating to have someone put so much effort into what I do and to helping me get better. I'd also like to thank @stronghouseproject for providing me with the best gear in Powerlifting, the support and motivation I get from them is incredible and I'm very proud to be part of such a great team of athletes and such a great company, huge thanks to @apesupps for supplying me with the best supplements I've ever taken and for coming out to the meet to show support, I'm glad I was able to make you proud and represent well. Finally I'd like to thank @chomp_nola for keeping me fueled this whole training cycle with amazing, great tasting food. Because of them I was able to compete at this meet weighing 10-12lbs less than I have this whole year and yet still be at my strongest. Very humbled to have such great people behind me and motivating me to progress forward. As for my performance, my first attempt felt good it wasn't extremely fast but it set the tone for my next attempt. My second attempt everything was dialed in from my emotions to my setup and because of that I was able to move it extremely fast. My third attempt was not the same case..I let me emotions take over and as a result my form broke down and I missed the weight right at lockout. I know what I'm capable of and I know that when everything is dialed in and my emotions are in check I'm an the strongest I've ever been. This whole year has been about re-formulating my bench and I know that once I get comfortable with the new things I'm working on, my bench will continue to grow. I walked away with the Junior 20-23 American bench record for USPA, which I dedicate to my Paw Paw in his honor. This weekend was great being able to compete with everyone, and sharing the platform with some of the best lifters in the sport. It was an awesome event

Stretching is my FAVORITE thing to do. It's a great way to connect with your body. If you're activating the muscles you're stretching, you can strengthen as you lengthen.
I like to flex each foot one at a time and push into the floor with my heel (bent or straight knee) then release and breathe. This allows me to go significantly deeper into the stretch. .
Also engaging your core and pelvic floor helps to really feel your muscles' true limitations. .

I do believe today is my proudest run this training cycle. This whole weekend, in fact. That cold I had kicked my ass! After not running for a week, I didnt know how this weekend was going to go; and no one sets the bar higher for me than myself.

I was supposed to run 29 miles this weekend: 3 Friday, 8 Saturday, 18 today. Well, I was able to push out 3 Friday, 4 Saturday, and 10 today. The struggle was real. Yesterday I felt like I was going to pass out 3 miles in and took it to the house. Today, around mile 2.5, I stopped running and was like this cant be life. My pace was slow and steady, but my heart was racing, my lungs were burning, my head was pounding and I felt hungry AF! I sat there for a couple minutes, ate two @honeystinger waffle cookies, and contemplated on calling it quits. Maybe my body wasnt feeling 100?

Fortunately, I decided to turn my podcast back on and keep pushing forward a bit. The wind coming off of the river was a beast. One mile at a time, I just kept trekking forward. I made it back to my starting point at 6.2 miles, but I decided to push for 8. When I got to 8 I decided to go for 9, and then for 10. Even though I was 8 miles shy of my training for the day, I decided to leave some in the tank. Lesson for the day: dont be so hard on yourself #selfcare

Side note: Im in love with my new @nathansportsinc hydration vest! Glad I took the plunge on this one!!!

I know its hard because I have been there! I have been lost in a hole of negativity and self hate.. yet I did nothing to pull myself out. Day after day I blamed my circumstances and other people for my depression. Then one day I decided I was tired of feeling that way. I knew who I wanted to become and I have worked tirelessly everyday to become that person. Has it been easy? No. Has every day been a good one? NO! But no matter what I keep going because I know in the end it will be worth it. Happiness is a choice and every day I CHOOSE to be happy because I deserve to be happy.. just like YOU deserve to be happy. Make the choice, make a change and live your life to the fullest.
