Just using a scale doesn't give you the whole picture.

After gym Protein Power Balls πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ’ͺ🏻

Recipe:
.
1 1/2 cups rolled oats (plus extra for rolling)
2 scoops vanilla protein powder (I used vegan)
1 tablespoon golden ground flax seed
1/2 cup dates
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Pinch or two of cinnamon
4 tablespoons liquid of choice - more if needed (I used flax milk)

Mix everything in a food processor until well combined. When done roll into balls using hands. Roll in extra oats if desired. Place in a plastic container in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving. Enjoy!!!

Serving one ball... Store in the fridge.

But inevitably, there comes a time when your body catches on to what you're doing 😈 and responds by increasing food cravings & shooting your hunger signal through the roof! πŸ”πŸ˜£πŸ•

The reality is, when you're in a calorie deficit, SOME hunger is inevitable... ‼️BUT - it should never reach a point where you feel like you're going to pass outβ€ΌοΈπŸ’€πŸ™†

Luckily, there are things you can do, and the graphic above illustrates my three favorite strategies for reducing and even eliminating a lot of your hunger while dieting βœ…:

1️⃣ - The "Satiety Index" is a graph πŸ“Šthat shows a list of the most fillings foods. If you're struggling with hunger, I recommend choosing foods towards the tipidy-top of the list as much as possibleπŸ‘Œ
#
2️⃣ - We all know protein is important for building muscle πŸ’ͺ, but another benefit of a higher protein diet is it's positive effects on satiety πŸ˜‹. I recommend having some protein (~20g to 30g) at each meal to help increase your fullness after eating.
#
3️⃣ - The more routined your eating schedule, the easier it'll be to predict and regulate hunger πŸ“πŸ”„. Whether you eat 2, 4, or 6 meals is up to you and your preferences... Just try to be consistent with the size and timing of those meals each day for satiety's sake πŸ’ͺπŸ˜‰

NEWSFLASH: Getting fit is HARD.

There are so many ups and downs... Times you'll be excited to do your workout and times lacing up your tennis shoes feels like a workout in and of itself... Times where eating healthy feels like a no brainer, and others where you can't stand the sight of another vegetable... Times where you'll see amazing results, and others where that scale just won't budge... Times you'll nail your workout, and others you won't make it through the warm up without needing a break.

But that's all a part of the journey.
You learn, you push yourself, and you grow. You get stronger not only physically, but also mentally.

You may fall off the wagon sometimes, but guess what? We ALL do.
So don't let the fear of striking out keep you from starting YOUR fitness journey. The only way you strike out is if you straight up quit forever.
