The BEST thing to see that sets a fire in my soul, is seeing how far I came! A lot of times, we get caught up in the now, get frustrated with our current physique or certain lifts, that we forget where we started. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Idk about y’all, but for me, when I compare pics and videos of me years ago, vs me today, the feeling of being proud of myself overwhelms me.

Video on the left was during my last prep way back in 2012 where my focus was more on cardio rather than hitting the weights hard, and my pull up game was based upon assisted pull ups.

Video on the right, was from this last prep last year, where my main focus was on hitting the weights with going as heavy as I can because fuck whether I’m in a calorie deficit or not, I’m still gonna move some damn weight, and being able to do pull ups unassisted was probably one of the proudest moments because it’s something I worked so hard at and wanted. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Moral to this: when you’re feeling down on yourself and need a boost, compare yourself to yourself from years ago to present, work fucking harder regardless if you’re in a fat loss or not, and lastly nothing is impossible with the right mindset and determination to never fucking quit no matter how hard the road is ahead of you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Yesterday I wore a sleeveless AND open back dress and I gave zero fucks! The old me would have thrown a light jacket over it. (Also the old me couldn’t fit in it 🙈) But like @thickfitandpretty said, “Don’t be uncomfortable in 110 degree weather because of people and their negativity.” Getting in shape has changed me physically and mentally for the better. Quick story time 📖-

I stopped barbell squatting about a year ago to limit the risk of injury while in prep, plus you don’t NEED to squat to make progress with legs. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
About 3 weeks ago, after building my improvement season training, I wanted to revisit barbell squats because I truly do love the grind of them, especially when you’re under a heavy load. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Started my squat journey with 95 Ibs, that’s it. The following week, I worked my way up to 155 Ibs basing it all off of how I feel, then yesterday, I increased my squats by 50 Ibs, and hit 3 sets of 5 at 205 Ibs!🙌🏻 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you want to progress in a lift, be consistent with it. I know not everyone can up their weight by 50 Ibs like I did, I guess I’m a unique case or maybe it’s my mindset to always push harder each week, but just know, if you try to bullshit the grind, you’ll get nothing back in return. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Lately, I have been putting a lot of thought into being 💯 % open about my emotions post show because I am one who doesn’t truly open up about my own vulnerabilities because in my mind, that’s showing weakness & I’m a strong ass bitch - at least in my own mind, ha! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I want to be 100% open & vulnerable about my feelings to 1.) grow as a person 2.) face my feelings head on rather than suppressing them with other things 3.) to help others who maybe fighting the same fight.

I get a lot of DM’s from women, and even some men, telling me how I Inspire them, and they look up to me. As much as that inspires me, I’m not super-human, I’m just a person who’s real, raw, & doesn’t believe in “cheating the system” by not speaking truth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Jenn and I have been working together for going on 11 weeks, and when Jenn first came to me, her goal was/still is, to compete in figure. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Jenn was following a lower calorie diet before working with me, she wasn’t happy with the fact that her progress was SO SLOW while going through the diet ringer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We got her started on higher calories, and her weight was coming down, then we hit a patch where progress went back to being painfully slow again regardless of what we did.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a coach, it is my duty to connect the dots looking backwards (diet history and how it can be affecting her progress today). After doing some digging, I found out that with Jenn’s last prep (over a year ago), that she dieted for a long period of time with only 1 refeed towards the end of her prep, never deloaded, and never did any diet breaks.

Needless to say, I have had Jenn on a diet break for the last 3 weeks, and her weight has been dropping consistently, and she even hit some new weight PR’s along the way! 🙌🏻

A Coach’s job isn’t to just get you “shredded,” it’s to figure out how your body works, then come up with the BEST plan of attack to ensure the client is successful. With Jenn, it took some time, but we found that “sweet spot”! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I use to be SO damn focused on “gotta be lean” that I wasn’t truly living or enjoying life and all the goodness it has to offer. For once in my life, I’m happy & comfortable with myself. Now I have my moments/days, but don’t we all! 🤷🏻‍♀️
