Let’s talk eggs 🍳 Last decade Eggs got a bad wrap with increasing consumers cholesterol. High cholesterol is a combination of several lifestyle & genetic factors (more on that another day;) #eggs are nature’s powerhouse with complete protein source, having the exact amino acid profile of complete protein. They are versatile and can be cooked in various methods. For those that have asked how to poach like this 👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻 see below 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
• Ensure eggs are fresh • Eggs are at room temperature • Simmer water in saucepan • could add a splash of white vinegar (not essential and only makes egg taste a bit of vinegar, but the acid helps the proteins to solidify) • crack egg on bench, use thumbs to pull apart into simmering water • pop your toast down • the time it takes for bread to toast (3mins) is how long the eggs need to make egg white cooked and yolks runny • prepare toast, scoop egg out with strainer spatula (holes in bottom for water to drain) • salt/pepper, slice egg before it over cooks

For My son I cooked some grilled garlic sriracha wings, mushrooms cap stuffed with onions and cheese and grilled corn.
For my dinner I cooked some grilled Mahi Mahi, mushroom cap stuffed with onions, cheese and topped with grilled shrimp. A side salad with mixed greens and avocados with a side of grilled corn.

I get a ton of questions about carb cycling. It’s one of the newer eating strategies and is getting more popular. Do I recommend it? Not really. It’s a much more advanced method than most other strategies and requires strict tracking and constant modifications along the way. There are endless variations for every goal and unless you really know your body and are very good at tracking, you’ll have trouble sustaining it

That being said, some people respond very well to it so I made some basic guidelines to follow if you really want to give it a shot and see how your body responds

To lose fat, you need to eat less than you burn and you want enough protein. The low carb days will amplify your caloric deficit and the high carb days will give you energy to workout and allow you to enjoy more carbs (make it more sustainable) 👍🏼 - Make sure you keep your protein around 1 g/ lb of BW and vary your fat vs. carb levels : Try to get 2 of your workouts in on the high carb days

Gaining muscle while carb cycling. Here you need to be in a «gentle» caloric surplus. Still get in that 1 g of protein/ lb of BW and allow the fat and carb levels to fluctuate. Again, try to get your workouts in on high carb days

Please keep in mind that there are MANY variations of carb cycling. Some stagger high/low/no carb days and some have low/no carb days stacked together. Unless you are extremely advanced, don’t worry about this stuff at all. Seriously 😎

I love creating entirely new recipes, don’t get me wrong... but some Sundays, I don’t want my entire day to be consumed by meal prep 🕔 Today I did boxing and cycling🥊🚲, so I listened to my body and rested most of this afternoon 😴

This quick and easy side has been my go-to lately🍠💯 The ingredients are whole and simple, making a versatile dish for any protein: salmon, chicken, eggs, you name it 🐟🐓🥚
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Original ingredients:
1 sweet potato
1 red bell pepper
I small onion
1 clove garlic
Olive oil or avocado oil
Himalayan salt
Black pepper
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To make Mexican style potatoes, add:
1/4 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp chili powder
2 Tbs chopped cilantro
Crushed red pepper flakes for spice
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Dice up all vegetables and sweet potato.
2. Over medium/high heat, spray pan with oil and cook diced sweet potatoes for 1 minute.
3. Add 2 Tbs of water and cover to steam for 5-6 minutes.
4. Spray pan again with oil and add in red bell pepper and onion. Cook for an additional 5-6 minutes, adding minced garlic before the last two minutes.
5. Season with Himalayan salt and pepper. Add Mexican potato seasonings in if using.
6. Be sure to check you potatoes are cooked to the consistency you want. Serve as a breakfast hash or side to protein of choice!

If ya only eat what makes your body happy (but you hate it) then you're probably not going to last very long with that lifestyle. And if you only eat what makes your soul happy (like 24/7 hotdogs) you're probably not going to last at life very long lol. Find your happy place with both!

I'm starting to find more and more foods that do just that and it's great. I love what I eat and I feel so much better on the majority of days.

One of my new favs is acai. And this place Bear's has it going on in the acai department! Yum!

My bowl has acai at the bottom, tons of strawberries, granola, blueberries, goji berries and chocolate chips. It was ah-mazing!

Premetto che la quantità e la tipologia di cibo da assumere prima di allenarsi è molto soggettiva e dipende dalla digestione (io per esempio devo far passare per forza almeno 3 ore senza mangiare nulla).

Detto questo il principio vale per tutti: più mi avvicino al workout, meno devo mangiare.
Evita i grassi pre-workout, prediligi carboidrati e proteine.

2/3 ore prima puoi consumare un pasto solido e mediamente abbondante.
-
1/2 ore prima qualcosa di leggero come un frullato o un mix di avena e proteine con un po' di banana.
-
Meno di un'ora prima sconsiglio di mangiare qualsiasi cosa, non sono neanche favorevole ai pre-workout eccessivamente stimolanti, che poi hanno altri effetti collaterali, soprattutto per chi non è a livelli altissimi.
Al massimo consiglio un buon caffè (la caffeina è alla base dela maggior parte dei pre-workout, solo che di solito ce ne sono dosaggi molto elevati).

Ricorda tra l'altro che le scorte di glicogeno muscolare, ovvero la benzina e l'energia che avrai durante il workout, dipendono molto più da ciò che hai mangiato nelle 24 ore precedenti, non tanto dal pasto subito prima.
