Weight loss, or more specifically fat loss, is really quite simple. The laws of thermodynamics in its simplest form is "create a caloric deficit", that is....consume less calories than you require on a daily basis.
There are a few ways to do this -

Today is a rest day, so naturally I'm going to eat less as I NEED less. I'm not lifting weights so need less fuel. HOWEVER, I also increase my NEAT levels (Non Exercise Activity Thermogenesis).
What is NEAT?
It's everything we do that isn't sleeping, eating or specific exercise.
So today we walked up a bloody great big hill...some rest day!!!
I ate less and did more, creating a caloric deficit.
