Tonight was a struggle to get it out of the door. I almost threw on my jammies and lounged with the husband and dog after the baby went to bed. BUT I knew that my runs would suffer this weekend with family in town and I'm so glad I got outside to get it done! It was gorgeous out! --------------------------- 5 minute warm up. 4 repeats of 3 min at 1 mile Pace with 3 min recovery. ---------------------------- I was completely shocked with my lap times and the fact that the one that I didn't make my Pace (9:22-9:44) was the first repeat!! Oops only 2 seconds at least. But the third repeat was uphill and then the last one I was just wiped out on! But I kept Pace in both!! I'm very happy with that!

One of the greatest things I’ve gained from this journey is ENERGY!!!

What an amazing race last weekend! The epic Killington Beast @spartan Race in Vermont. 13+ miles and 30 obstacles. I only failed 3 obstacles. And FINALLY made the Multi-rig and spear throw. I got a little sad that my hubby wasn’t there to witness me make both of those obstacles, which have eluded me for 3 years!!! But then I thought how proud of him I was that he was running the #ultrabeast and being his own awesome self. •
Making this an even better experience was having a group of #spartanvirgins from @crossfitundaunted experience this and see them become hooked! •
I loved every minute of this brutal race. And thank you to the young man that talked to me the ENTIRE way up the death march. I think he saved my sanity during those 2 miles straight up the mountain. #spartanmom #fitafter40 #cfun #fitmomstrongmom

Sorry for the radio silence... Concert last night. Work today. Now packing to head off for #ragnartrailnorthwoods after work tomorrow. You know it’s going to be interesting when you have to pack winter gear for sleeping in a tent, tank tops to run and multiple changes of clothes because of the mud!

So thankful that I made the decision to take care of myself so I can have adventures like this ❤️

I left home at 4:40 and drove through the snow about 15 miles. ⠀

I waited in the dark parking lot for them to unlock the gym doors at exactly 5am. I saw her coming and I quickly grabbed my bag and ran to the door and up the stairs. ⠀

I changed my shoes, grabbed my headphones and walked into the empty weight room every morning. I was always the first one there and I would quickly push through the exercises, sets and reps in order to be done right on time.. ⠀

I would quick check the clock, change my shoes and grab some water before I would run back to my car by 6 am. ⠀

Then I would drive back through the snow and get home just in time for my husband to leave for work... ⠀

I did this... ⠀

Every. Day. ⠀

For. A year. ⠀

It was torture. ⠀

So when you ask me - what does it really take?⠀

Well... ⠀

It takes commitment. ⠀

We don’t get to decide what life will throw at us on any given day.. ⠀

It might be snow 😝❄️⠀

It might be illness 😷⠀

It might be lack of time ⏰ ⠀

It might be lack of sleep 😴 ⠀

It might be driving 15 miles 🤷🏻‍♀️⠀

It might be squeezing a workout into your impossible schedule 🙄🤯⠀

Or maybe it will just seem that everything single thing is stacked against you and you will struggle and wonder - is this even worth it?? ⠀

Commitment. ⠀

Consistent commitment. ⠀

No matter the obstacle. ⠀

Do. Not. Let. ⠀

Anything. ⠀

Stand. In. Your. Way. ⠀

#RealStrongStart Challenge Day 10

Ugh. Today’s run was pretty terrible. Was feeling great for about the first 4.5 miles and then felt totally exhausted. I ended up run-walking the next mile, and walked the last half mile home.
I’m bummed. I felt so great in the beginning, but I guess I wasn’t hydrated/fueled enough to get to the end. This pic is from the pup’s first creek-drink when I was still feeling good.

When you have a tough workout and have to run late and it’s already in the high 70s with full sun and you drink all of your Nuun and there’s a DQ across the street...you get a large blue raspberry slushee! Today’s workout: 1 up, 6x1 mile w/ 2min recovery, 2 down= 10 miles total. Goal pace for repeats 7:10-7:20. I’m going to say I pretty much nailed that! #milerepeats #slushee #nailedit

Get in your CARDIO, with this Tabata Style workout! 8 Rounds 20 seconds of work and 10 seconds break for each exercise. Total 20 minutes! Exercises: Grasshopper, Soccer Kicks, Plank Jacks, Jumping Lunges and Bodybuilders.
