7 months in 7 months out.

A lot of people told me that I’d snap right back to my old shape. And although that was encouraging it made me feel a ton of pressure to get back to my “normal” physique.

To be completely honest, it hasnt been until the last couple months that I actually started to feel myself again. Adjusting to being a “new” mom was what I needed to do. Madeleine came 4 weeks early which threw us for a spin, and although she was totally healthy she was little and we had a hard time feeding. [ill write about my breastfeeding issues later]
So to say I jumped right back in to a fitness routine wasn’t accurate. I thought after having my daughter that I’d have this whole work out routine, and nutrition plan dialed in. And well as most of you “seasoned” parents know that doesn’t always happen. My once super structured, type A personality was trying to adapt to the ebb and flow of newborn life. So I did my best to get in work outs and eat to fuel my body. But let’s be real there were many times I was scrounging for that last protein bar. Thank God 🙏🏼

Fast forward I’ve got a pretty good routine going. And starting to see some shape again. Am I 💯 pumped on my body? NO, but I am 💯 proud of it! LIKE COME ON!!! It’s only been 7 months, how do we as females expect so much of ourselves in such a short time. I know there are plenty of women who “bounce back” a day after delivery. ☝🏼 But that’s not realistic. Atleast wasn’t for me.

So I wanted to share that where ever you are in your life. Fitness, career, romance... Give yourself some G R A C E 🙏🏼 and remove some pressure. After all you only have one life. Be HAPPY ❤️

I’m not trying to look perfect. I just want to feel better, look great, know I’m healthy, and rock any outfit I choose! 😎

As I continually work toward rewriting the narrative in my head around body image, I keep thinking about all the little details—the things we never have to think about because our bodies just take care of them. ⠀

If my body could speak to me, i feel like it would say, “Hey, wait a minute! Why are you so quick to criticize me? I’m tackling a billion projects for you 24/7 so you can breathe, think, move, communicate, sleep, laugh, cry, dance... I’m sorry that I held on to that extra fuel I thought you might need when you were under stress, okay! BUT I’M DOING THE BEST I CAN to keep you alive.”⠀

Our bodies love us unconditionally. With that perspective I want nothing but to practice more gratitude and love my body back.⠀

Success! There is a ton of this to eat over the next couple days, it tastes great, and I cleaned out the fridge! No recipe, but it's full of carrots, celery, onion, garlic, a little tomato paste, low sodium veg broth, kale, potato, white beans, tofu, and orzo. Seasoned with a little S&P, lemon juice, and tarragon. Topped off with a sprinkle of cashew parm. 🙌🏼😋🙏🏼

When life gets busy, nothing else matters but being right here present with my sweet boy. We made mud pies, sand castles and played in the water. I know summer will go by far too quickly and this time I have enjoyed for the past five years...waking up wondering what we should do today will be soon taken away because you my big boy are off to school soon. I’m feeling super sad about this lately...I’m sure you mom’s can relate. Why can’t they just stay little forever 😭
