Zoom in! My face has something to show you. If you know me, u typically see me with a hat on in the sun, wearing the highest SPF possible on my face. I played competing softball for 17 years but I hated playing with a hat or glasses and rarely ever put on sunblock. Huge fail. Huge. When I wasn't on the field, I was at the pool. Same ole' story there. But damn I had a good tan. That was the most important thing, right?! It lasted through my 20s for the most part. Minus the year I was 26 and some dude pointed out the melasma stache I was getting (first how rude) but I had NO idea what melasma even was back then. That was just the beginning.
Fast forward to my thirties and years of sun damage has started to surface and lowering my self esteem. It really became an issue when I was 31. Then I met Shannon, my aesthetician from @advancedaestheticswellness , who put my face under a UV light that would reveal the real problem I was about to face. I literally started to tear up. You see that dark patch on my cheek? Which I couldn't see that without the UV light 5 years ago. But it helped me see what was coming my way. That lamp didn't lie. I'm still seeing all the damaged discoloration pop up. But I'm treating it and caring for my skin now so I'm not dealing w this in my later years. So you see, it's been a process. I haven't been waiting for it to get worse. I knew it was going to happen so I took a risk on a treatment that has ended up working for me. It was something I was scared to try and have found a lot of people are too. I find talking about it helps and helps others take notice of their own skin care too. So you see, It's more than just being 'that girl at the pool w a big ass hat who is annoyingly reapplying her sunscreen'. I have some serious issues with it. My once fair complexion, and minimalist makeup routine, has turned into something more. And I want to share my journey with you. Sign up for my newsletter (link in bio) to get the full deets on products that use, including makeup, and find out what has NOT worked for me. Plus you will get to see the UV pics that I've only shared with family and close friends. It's an eye opener! #fitfreeandhappy #skincare
