✨Food isn’t on my mind today at all. Leaving Austin is bittersweet. Today, I can only think about how I’m going to not just survive, but THRIVE in the next ten months while my partner is working in another continent, in a place I can’t see him. There will be months where he won’t have any ability to communicate with the outside world at all - that’s going to be tough.
.
✨Even though I’m independent by nature, pretty mentally strong and fortunately not prone to depression - I know how hard it’s going to be to not talk to someone I’ve talked to every single day for the past 2.5 years.
.
✨This is when meal prep and my healthy routines are going to be so important. The solution to feeling sad isn’t in food. The answer to missing someone isn’t found in dropping all my hard work.
.
✨My healthy habits will help me avoid emotional eating and avoid skipping workouts. I have an action plan for self care each month, an AMAZING support system and I know my man and I will be able to do this long distance thing gracefully.
.
🌸Thank you all for your responses to my stories yesterday- your messages and support means so much to me. And being able to help you every day helps ME more than you know.

🥕When I started meal prepping and taking my food SERIOUSLY I did not enjoy a full day of eats like this. Nope. ✨We NEVER start where we want to eventually end up.

🤳🏻On stories yesterday (you can still watch) I talked about how motivation is NOT a feeling.

✨Motivation comes from a very important goal or desired result that’s unique to YOU.

✨If you don’t have motivation that means you don’t have a really clear goal that sparks you into action. Goals come first, then you know what HABITS you need to build to accomplish them.

✨Today I just want to talk about the goals part.
.
✨I want you to have this conversation with yourself. Ask “why?” 5 times. Here’s an example:
.
“I want to lose 30 pounds.”
👉🏼Why?
“Because then I’ll feel confident.”
👉🏼Why?
“When I see my thighs I feel worthless and like a failure.”
👉🏼Why?
“I know I can do better and that I deserve the body I desire.”
👉🏼Why?
“Because I’m worth it.”
👉🏼Why?
“Deep down I love myself and being healthy is one of many ways to show myself the love.”

✨You can do anything you set your mind to. Get out of your own way and give yourself a good reason to take action. Wanting to “look hot” isn’t enough! Dig deep. ✨Your motivation is within you- it’s not outside of you.

Since its bulking season, I figured it would be a good time to talk about some tips on how to eat for mass:
*
1) Genetics plays a role in your optimal diet – not all people process macronutrients the same. Some people grow more muscle on a high carb, high protein diet, while others grow more on a high fat, high protein diet. As a general rule, if the closer your ancestors were to the equator, the more they are wired to utilize carbs.
*
2) If you want to have fruit pre-workout, stick to fruits with low glycemic index (GI). You don’t want to spike insulin before your workout, as your energy and drive may suffer halfway into your workout. Stick to fruits like grapefruit, plums, strawberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, and cherries.
*
3) Replenish glycogen and spike insulin post-workout with a carb powder or high GI foods. Insulin is anabolic and suppresses the cortisol in your system. *
4) Aim for 1.2g of protein per pound bodyweight.
*
5) Don’t leave out healthy fats – raw nuts, avocado, nut butter (no additives), organic butter, coconut oil, fish oil, MCT oil
*
6) Try to eat wild or pasture-raised animals (I like elk, bison, turkey, and boar), as they have higher amounts of vital nutrients
*
7) Vary your food intake – prevents intolerances and ensures you get a wide variety of micronutrients.
*
8) Avoid inflammatory foods like wheat, soy, corn, fried foods, processed meats, and refined sugar.
*
9) Avoid alcohol – destroys muscle, disrupts sleep, lowers GH and testosterone, promotes yeast buildup in the gut
*
10) Stay fully hydrated
*
11) Chew your food (45 times)
*
12) Eating carbs after ‪6PM‬ puts your nervous system into parasympathetic mode, which allows you to relax, repair, and grow *

FRUIT HOLIDAY TREE 🌲

Attending a holiday party can be stressful if you are trying to maintain your healthy habits. Relieve the stress by taking this adorable edible fruit tree to your next social event
This is a perfect addition to your work holiday party too
.
Believe me when I say - others are feeling just like you about wanting to avoid over indulging on too many sweets this holiday- be the hit and savior of the party to all those others who are also stressing about what they might be able to eat when they get there
.
Ingredients: .
1 ripe pineapple (sam's always has the BEST)
1 pear (a little underripe works best)
2 clementines, peeled and segments separated
3 kiwi, ends trimmed then chopped into sixths with skin left on
8oz strawberries, stems removed
6oz blackberries
1-1/2 cups red grapes
1-1/2 cups green grapes
1 bamboo skewer
toothpicks
.
Directions:
.
1. Slice top and bottom off pineapple then cut a thin slice from the top. Press a star-shaped cookie cutter into the center of the thin slice then set star aside. Slice a little off the sides of the pineapple at an angle to create a cone shape. Push the bamboo skewer through the center, then skewer the pear on top, leaving the top of the skewer uncovered (you'll skewer the star on top at the end.)
.
2. Place pineapple onto a serving tray then insert toothpicks around pineapple and pear at a slight angle, breaking a little off if necessary, then add fruit. I found it easier to place most of the bigger fruit first then fill in with the smaller fruit like grapes. Add the pineapple star to the top of the skewer then serve.
.
* Use whatever fruit you like - blueberries and/or raspberries would also be fine to use!

Alles vermischen und 15 Minuten stehen lassen.
Für den Zwetschgen-Kompot:
🔺100g gefrorene Zwetschgen - ja sorry 😐 In der Jaheszeit: wo soll ich frische Zwetschge finden? Ich habe Zwetschgen geholt, weil sie auf mein Weihnachtsdessert kommt.
🔺50g Gelier-Xucker
🔺1 TL Zimt 🔺Saft von halbes Zitrone

Die Hälfte von dem Teig in eine Springform geben - vorher mit Kokosöl eingeschmiert und Kokosmehl bestäubt und an den Rändern hochziehen. Kompot auf den Teig geben und mit dem restlichen Teig zudecken. Bei 170°C 30-40 Minuten backen.

Para a compota de ameixa basta cozinhar
🔺100g de ameixa fresca
🔺50g de Gelier-Xucker

Mistura todos os ingredientes da massa e deixa descansar por uns 15 minutos. Unta uma forma de fundo removível de 16cm e forra com metade da massa levantando as bordinhas. Acrescenta a compota em cima da massa e cobre com o restante. Assa a 170°C por 35-40 minutos. Da pra fazer com qualquer recheio e acho q da pra fazer Salgado também. Vamos tentar?

Moja ostatnia dynia w domu wyladowala dzisiaj na talerzu w wersji "na słono"🎃
Przepis:
Dynię piżmową przekroić na pół, usunąć pestki, posolić, popieprzyć, skropić delikatnie oliwą i piec ok 40min w temp 180st.
Na patelni rozgrzać oliwę i usmażyć pokrojoną w kostkę pierś z indyka, przyprawić solą i pieprzem. Usmażonego indyka zdjąć z patelni. Następnie na patelni podsmażamy cebule , czosnek, wrzucamy pomidory z puszki, szpinak baby i redukujemy sos. Na koniec dodajemy do sosu indyka, przyprawiamy. Z upieczonej dyni wydrążyć miąższ, wymieszac z sosem. Smacznego. 😊

I hear my clients say this statement far too often "this brownie is tiny" or "a few pieces of chocolate won't hurt" or "a biscuit with my tea is nothing" I took this photo to demonstrate the calorie density of discretionary foods 😳 I'm not saying you can't have brownies, cakes etc... Oggi per pranzo avevo voglia di qualcosa di sfizioso e croccante così nell'indecisione più totale mi è venuta in mente la carne tritata di tacchino che conservavo nel frigo e che solitamente utilizzo per gli hamburger.
Dopo 10 minuti buoni con il frigo aperto arriva l'illuminazione: NUGGETS!😍 Non avevo albumi ne formaggi così mi sono dovuta accontentare e vi assicuro che ne è valsa la pena! ✌
Ingredienti:
Fiocchi di avena baby integrali per renderle croccanti all'esterno
200g Carne tritata di tacchino
20g Crusca al naturale fiorentini
Pizzico di Sale
Rosmarino
Spolverata di aglio in polvere (opzionale)
Curry (opzionale)
Prendete una ciotola e dentro mettete la carne tritata, il sale e le spezie e in fine la crusca al naturale;
Amalgamate e create tante palline tutte della stessa misura;
Dopo di che inumidite le mani con del semplice olio d'oliva e ad una ad una prendete le palline e ricopritele di crusca d'avena baby tamponando bene fino ad ottenere delle crocchette;
Scaldate una padella antiaderente, se volete potete ungere la padella con uno scottex leggermente imbevuto di olio d’oliva; (io non ne ho avuto bisogno)
Disponete le crocchette in padella e cuocete a fuoco medio basso per una decina di minuti fino a doratura.
Come accompagnamento ho optato per un'insalata di finocchi, carote, sedano, pomodori secchi disidratati e limone.
E l'immancabile salsa @prozis honey mustard zero!

Baked Honey Mustard Chicken Breast with a Touch of Lemon

2 chicken breasts
1 tbsp dijon mustard
1 tbsp wholegrain mustard
1 tbsp honey
salt and pepper to taste
1/4 tsp paprika
juice from 1/2 lemon
1/2 tbsp oil (or butter)
broccoli spears to serve
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit).
Grease an oven-proof dish with the oil or butter and place the chicken in there.
Season well with salt, pepper and paprika.
In a small bowl, combine the dijon mustard, wholegrain mustard and honey.
Pour the mixture over the chicken breasts and bake in the oven for about 30-45 minutes, depending on the size of the chicken.
You may add 1-2 tablespoons of water in the pan if needed to prevent the edges of the dish from browning if there is not much chicken juice released during cooking.
Once the chicken is cooked through, squeeze lemon juice over and serve with broccoli spears.
