I was overweight all of my life and by age 13 was nearly 300lb. In 2002 my mom (who was my biggest support) suddenly died soon before my 14th birthday. I went in to a downward spiral of self-destruction. I had no plans for the future because I didn't care if I lived another day. By early 2008 I was up to over 420lb. March 2008 a drunk driver hit my car head on as I drove home. My airbag was disconnected for a week before the accident, we connected it back that night. I knew there was a reason for me surviving the crash and I vowed to start working on my health. Starting with walking one mile on a hill with my dog I worked my way up to running and hiking with her. Fast-forward about two years later I had completely transformed, losing 200lbs. Next I started bringing up my strength and fitness tremendously. I worked my way up to be able to squat 434lbs, deadlift 500lbs, bench press 335lbs, do pull-ups and dips with weight added. I became a personal trainer so that I could help others transform. My goal is to show people that anyone can do it once they fully commit. I am excited to be in the front row of many more transformations. My number one tip when just starting is to not look at how far you have to go, just focus on taking small steps forward as they will add up to greatness.

Por mais organizada que seja sua dieta, pode acontecer uma situação em que você esteja com fome, na rua, procurando algo rápido/prático para comer e acabe não fazendo a melhor escolha de snack ou lanchinho.

Para situações como essa, existe uma regra bem simples e eficiente que você pode usar para ter certeza de fazer a melhor opção, em um supermercado, loja de conveniência ou mesmo em uma loja de suplementos.

➡️Nas informações nutricionais do alimento veja O TOTAL de carboidratos do snack/lanche.
➡️Subtraia desse total a quantidade de proteínas, fibras e açúcares de álcool/polióis (um tipo de "carboidrato pouco digestível", como o xilitol e o sorbitol).
➖➖➖
Qual o resultado? Se você obteve um número maior do que 5, essa não é a melhor opção do ponto de vista nutricional. Agora se o resultado for IGUAL ou MENOR que 5, esse é um snack/lanche ideal para uma situação como essa.
➖➖➖
TODAS as “barrinhas de cereal” vão bombar nesse teste. Pode fazer a conta para ver. Alguns iogurtes passam nessa conta e outros (a maioria) não. Mesmo barrinhas de proteína muitas vezes atingem números finais superiores a 5.

CLARO que a melhor escolha seria “comida de verdade”.. uma fruta com um pouco de queijo e frango desfiado, uma batata com atum, etc, mas na “vida real” nem sempre temos uma opção dessa à mão, e saber escolher algo mais prático e que agregue no seu planejamento alimentar me parece bem conveniente 😎
