It's really easy to point the finger at Donald Trump for his refusal to acknowledge climate change, but like I've said before, there's something even worse than denying the existence of climate change: recognizing its existence while refusing to act. Nonvegans, I'm looking at you. Don't just march; ACT against climate change. That means, at the very least, going vegan.
I know I've criticized Leonardo DiCaprio quite a few times in the past, but that's just because the guy truly epitomizes everything that is wrong with mainstream “environmentalism”. As expected, DiCaprio was out and about yesterday, taking part in the People's Climate March, making sure he had plenty of photos to post on his social media pages and inflate his ever-growing ego. However, last month, he was tweeting about this enterprise he's invested money in: a company called “Love The Wild”. In fact, he wasn't just tweeting about it; he was SELLING it, spreading industry propaganda about the “sustainability” of fish farming.
The reality is that promoting animal-exploiting industries for the “sustainability” of their practices is analogous to trying to put out a fire with gasoline. From a practical perspective, environmentalism makes absolutely no sense without veganism. Again, I'm not giving you “vegan propaganda”. Organizations like the FAO, UNEP and the National Academy of Sciences have made it clear that a worldwide shift away from animal products would seriously alleviate a number of environmental problems.
Much more importantly (and I know I've said this many times in the past), environmentalism without veganism is morally bankrupt. It amounts to the pursuit of “sustainable” ways to enslave the other beings of this world. Nonvegans, how can you see yourselves as protectors of Earth while also choosing to exploit its most vulnerable inhabitants?
