Last Sunday, a group of 7 members of MAP decided to join the International Short Film and Arts Festival (FISFA) for World Rural Health Conference (WRHC) 2018 which will be held in New Delhi this year. The submission due date was 31st March, so we basically had only 6 days to film & edit the short documentary.
It was tough because we had to fit in the filming schedule in between classes (we really tried to attend all of our classes & barely managed at the end), but thankfully we finished the documentary in time to send it before midnight on 31st.
As a token of appreciation to everyone who's involved, we set up a premiere of the documentary: "The Special Ones" yesterday evening at board room of USM-KLE. It nearly brought everyone to tears, and actually did to a few. The highlight of the event was when Nadine gave a speech and almost no one understood anything she said. My roommate cried, bcause she felt that Nadine had a lot to say & never gotten the chance.
I'm forever blessed to be given the opportunity not to just work with a great team, but to be reminded that special beings such as Nadine & Prasanna are very much the same as us who don't have Down Syndrome.
I'd like to say thank you & forward my gratitude to Dr Sunita Bidari, Prof Dr Mohd Suhaimi Abd Wahab, Dr H. B. Rajasekhar, Suchitra Rajshekar, Suraya Mohd Zairi, Nadine & family, Prasanna & family, Ridzuan Jamian, Tariq Arsany, MAP High Committee, MAP Multimedia & Communication, and last but definitely not least, the FISFA team.
The announcement for selected screenings is this month. I'm not hoping much because we're competing in an international competition among medical AND arts students. Nevertheless, please pray for our success & hope for the best. Thank you!
