This morning I woke, bleary eyed, annoyed, and knowing it was going to rain. I've been happier. I rolled out of bed and forced my cat to cuddle (she was thrilled), before I got ready. I snapped at Irish for considering making me tea and shuffled out the door like an ice cold shrew, but this morning had another plan in store: I walked out the front gate to this vibrant beauty. I didn't believe it was the real sky, for the sky in San Francisco doesn't have *any* color, let alone ruby pink! .
I sent Irish a text apologizing for being a grumpy jerk and enjoyed the sunrise, but this sight only lasted a few minutes.
I walked up the street to gloomy, grey, end of world clouds. The pink light was less bubblegum and more sickly, pale. And when I realized the hot pink was gone, I was mad at myself for wasting the moment and not appreciating it longer with my own eyes. But alas, we've not created cameras that can capture a sunrise or a waterfall. It will never capture the periwinkle brook that bubbles as we pass by, or the metallic lightning storm, or the cloudy, green tornado. They attempt, but they will never recreate these moments. Much as I carefully walked across this crosswalk, pausing, and triple checking the streetlights to take this photo, (quite to the horror of the man waiting to drive my direction) - I really tried, Instagram. I'm no photographer. So the colors are pale and sad. But I wanted to show you. I wanted to show you how this sight really affected me today and made everything that seemed horrible inside my apartment, feel like a world of possibilities.
