Competed in the Cincinnati Open yesterday. I didn’t get the gold medal I was hoping for, but I did get to successfully apply some new techniques that I’ve been working on. Pictured here is the silver medal from my division. I also earned a bronze medal in the open class.
Tournaments are a unique opportunity to apply what you’re learning in a high pressure environment. It gives you insight that you can’t manufacture inside the academy. I am learning more about my nutrition, as well as some of my good and bad habits Jiu jitsu wise. I’m also learning to believe in myself, and the power of encouragement.
The medals don’t mean much in the grand scheme of things, but I am grateful for the experience, and grateful to leave the tournament healthy, and injury free. I’m looking forward to getting back in the academy and getting better! 📷: @kk__mart
