The #forgottenfood: Finger millet bread / kevaru roti submitted by Janaki.
The story: "Kevaru roti was introduced to me by my grandmother when I was 7 years old. My fondest memory of this food was that she planted finger millet behind the house, and I’d help her harvest it. After harvesting it, she would grind the finger millet into flour using a traditional Indian stone grinder. Her recipe for kevaru roti was simple – fresh finger millet flour, sugar, water and shredded coconut. To me, this is a forgotten food because of the way it is made – using a traditional method and simple ingredients.” Fun fact: HRH The Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, tasted the kevaru roti when he launched the #ForgottenFoodsNetwork at our HQ.
