This Frank Stella signed and numbered colored lithograph titled "Sinjerli Variation," circa 1977, will be sold at Abell Auction Company's upcoming fine art auction on Sunday, October 15th! Postwar painter and printmaker Frank Stella is one of the most important living American artists, known for his use of bold color in geometric patterns and shapes. Stella’s involvement in Abstract Expressionism and Minimalism is seen in his flattened surfaces that reduce images to a purely geometric form. Stella is famously quoted as saying, “What you see is what you see,” a phrase that became the unofficial moto of the Minimalist practice.

A very, very special piece: from a New England whaling ship, dating to the late 1700s, early 1800s, this larger-than-life-size skull is carved from one single whale bone and is adorned with real human teeth from the ship's departed and those suffering the ravages of scurvy. The most exceptional, unique piece of scrimshaw I'd say! You won't find better. 💀At Belle and Beast Emporium in Riverside Antiques, Sawbridgeworth, and selected items on eBay (link in bio, user: belleandbeastemporium). DM if interested.

This "Mother & Child (From 'Cowboys & Indians series')" signed and numbered lithograph by Andy Warhol will be sold at Abell Auction Company's October 15th fine art sale. As the quintessential Pop Artist, Andy Warhol created some of the most iconic images of the 20th century in a response to consumerism and modern culture. The “Cowboys & Indians” series was a commentary on mass media by Warhol, as he replaced iconic portraits of well-known American “heroes” with the less familiar faces of Native Americans. Rather than showing them in a historical landscape, Warhol chose to portray these figures in the American, romanticized version of the “Wild West.” This series was completed in the mid-1980s, right before Warhol’s death, in arguably his most successful period.
