"In everyday life it is easy to keep to yourself, it is easy to partially interact, or interact when you feel like it, or as an introvert it is easy to remain in my comfort zone. Everyday this trip we finished on empty and I wondered how I am going to get up and pour out so much of myself all over again, because as an introvert I was socially exhausted. But that's where God used the joyous and infectious spirits of the kids to help teach me to love on empty everyday and invest 110% percent in people all day. I learned that if you love with your whole heart, God will work his magic to give you the energy to do it the next day and the next. God used the kids everyday to ignite you with love, to sing one more song 10x over, to toss them in the air one more time, and to give love and interaction unconditionally without holding back." -Senior Emily Maxwell #goandserve2017 #finalsnapshots #dontholdback #finishonempty #lovepeoplelikeyouremadeofit

"From this study abroad trip to Uganda and Kenya, I have learned that we, as Americans, are spoiled. Even though most of the children and adults who participated in the soccer clinics didn't have cleats or shin guards and some of the fields were unmarked with shattered porcelain tiles and glass on top of them, the pure joy shown on their faces simply because they were having fun playing the beautiful game was infectious to me and many of my teammates. Thus, their smiles helped me rekindle my own personal love to play soccer with my teammates. Soccer should be played simply for the fun of the game itself. We, in the United States, have such amazing athletic facilities and amenities at our fingertips that we often take for granted the original reason why we all began to play soccer as young children." -Sophomore Caitlin Dorsch #goandserve2017 #finalsnapshots #pelada #anytimeanywhere #joyofthegame

"As a person who used to play it safe and contained in all aspects of life (prior to Africa), this trip shook me to my core in the most beautiful way. I experienced faith, love, happiness, and joy in its most true and raw forms. God was so evident in every move that was made, and you could see it. This team went across the ocean to spread love, empowerment, and the Word, and we did, but the impact the people had on us is the real take-away. To have someone who lives in the slum, one of the poorest places in the world, smile and tell you how blessed they are...you don't ever forget that. The purity of the people of Uganda and Kenya changed me, and how I view life here in America, and we could all use a lesson on faith and gratitude from these brothers & sisters in Christ." -Sophomore Maddie Amos.

"The faith that every person that we met has is incredible. It was so restoring and truly inspiring to see people that have almost nothing wholeheartedly believe in the power of prayer and have complete trust in God and his plan." -Sophomore Kari Furrow #goandserve2017 #finalsnapshots @sportsoutreach #faiththatmovesmountains

"Ending on empty is something coach has been preaching ever since I've known him, but I never fully understood what it meant till I went on this trip. With that, I was able to learn the value of relationships. This trip takes everything out of you. You become so overwhelmed with everything you don't know whether to cry because of how unfair it all is, or smile because the kids have so much joy. Everyday, when you don't think you can take anymore, the kids keep you going. You learn to be in the moment with them because all you want to do is keep giving them hugs. You want to share your love and show them that you care about them. Whether it's through passing a soccer ball, singing songs and flashing your best dance move, or simply holding their hand. You show them, in that small amount of time, that they mean something more. You give them confidence and hope. And that's how you build relationships. By showing up and letting the moment take you. The people I have met on this trip will stay in my heart forever. They have given me so much, and all I hope is that, in that moment, I was able to give them something too." -Senior Rachel Cooke #goandserve2017 #finalsnapshots #losingyourselfintheserviceofothers #powerofrelationships

"Traveling far away from home to a place I'd never gone should have been scary. However, I had the most amazing experience getting to meet and serve with the kindest most selfless people I've ever come in contact with. Interacting with the children was an especially incredible experience. The joy they have radiates and their ability to smile when they have next to nothing is astonishing. I'm so thankful I was blessed with the opportunity to meet each and everyone of them." -Sophomore Sarah "Pav" Pavlovich .

The people of Africa are such strong and amazing people and their pure joy and appreciation for life is inspiring!" -Junior Brooke Kowalski .

While in Uganda, we visited a school and hosted a soccer clinic for the students. Although they didn’t have proper soccer equipment, their love for the game was overwhelming. Their love for soccer was pure and spontaneous. We donated two balls to the school and I witnessed first hand the Power of the Ball! I can not wait to experience that feeling again and again." -Sophomore Sarah Barnes #finalsnapshots #goandserve2017 #finalsnapshots #gratitude #appreciatewhatyouvegot

"This was an experience of a lifetime! I learned so much about the people, their culture and how incredibly selfless they are. I spent a lot of time with the children and they are the happiest, smartest kids I've ever met. They were so eager to learn and ask us questions. These kids realize how much power education has and it made me realize how much we take it for granted. Especially with our WOW girls; from the moment we arrived they told us how grateful they were to have the ability to attend school. I'm so happy to have met them and can't wait to see how far they go in life." -Sophomore Natalya Rodriguez #goandserve2017 #finalsnapshots #educationispower #womenofworth #wowgirls #worldchangers #educateawomanyoueducateanation

"Before the trip, I had only heard about what Sports Outreach is doing in Uganda and Kenya. Being able to go and witness how SOI is impacting people's lives was so inspiring. These people work six days a week, continually going into places that have the worst living conditions I have ever seen, to restore hope and transform lives by sharing the love of Christ. After meeting some of the people SOI has reached, I could see that even though they had so little, they were full of such tremendous joy and unwavering faith. It was so contagious. It was amazing to be able to see how God is using this organization. It was definitely an experience that I will carry in my heart for the rest of my life." -Junior Hannah Grasberger #goandserve2017 #finalsnapshots @sportsoutreach #servicepartners #thankfulforyou #restoringhope #transforminglives #notjustaslogan #reallife #realimpact
