Results never come from overnight work, and although I’ve felt like I’ve been on a roller coaster this year, up and down with my weight due to injuries, holidays and the rest... I always manage to get back on track! If anything I probably shouldn’t be feeling this great due to the silly season and the amount of bad food and alcohol I’ve consumed the last few weekends and next few to come. It's all about how you wear your suit!! We're loving how high @haley.gross wore her suit!

When your suit arrives, it's going to take you some trial and error to find the best way that your suit will enhance and work for your physique and vice versa!! Although there is no "wrong" way to wear it, shimmying it around will help you show off your physique the way you want it to, just like posing!

Believe it or not, we find a lot of girls actually forget to focus on this and don't use their suit to their advantage.

I've been working at shifting the way I view & feel about my body.
At times I am consumed with how much I think I will love my body when I'm ready to compete, when I finally put on more muscle, when I've seen just a little more progress, & so on.

What an exhausting, disempowering way of thinking!

Instead, how important is it to remember that our bodies, like us, never stay the same- we age, we change, we grow & our bodies grow WITH us.
How important is it to love & appreciate our bodies & all that they do!

#transformationtuesday is always fun when your dieting. But some people may see this and not understand. And as tempting as it was to just post a motivational quote about ‘hard work’, it’s more than that. I think the post @andrewnpardue put out yesterday about motivation got to me 😅. ••

Bodybuilding is an art form that encompasses mental and physical strength. So many people look at how far they have to go versus how far they’ve come. Focusing on the journey and not the end result is the key. You can always improve. There is always something you can work towards. ••

That can be tough sometimes because as competitors, we get wired to never be satisfied, because there is always that room for improvement. I’m posting this as motivation and a reminder for myself that I am capable of the greatness I want to achieve. Just keeping my eyes on the prize. 🏆👀

Real post coming your way... this #transformationtuesday isn’t a linear transition. Your goals change, your life changes, your behavior changes. These pictures start in 2010, and end yesterday (12/2017) my life has changed drastically over the course of the last 7 years as I struggled with depression, and finding out who I was and what my drive is. My goals have changed and now in addition to progressing on stage, my other main focus is to stay healthy, and eat foods that my body wants, and exercise in a way that keeps my body moving for the long term. I feel as though once my viewpoint changed, my body did too. My point is that you don’t need to beat yourself up if your current situation isn’t where you want to be, you always have the power to keep moving forward regardless of what your goals are.

Getting lean for the stage was exhilarating ...a feeling like no other. Having tipped the scales at 198 when I was 10, I never thought I’d see a 116 pound version of me.
But reversing out of stage condition was almost harder than losing the weight to begin with...because no matter how much time passes, a movement UP in the scales brought me right back to my 10 year old ‘fat’ self. 😞

Two months post show intake is up & I’m 10 pounds heavier...BUT with only a 2% bodyfat increase. My goal is to get bigger & I’m seeing #gains 🎉

Why am I posting this? It took a few months, but I finally understand some very basic facts & want to share what I learned. I’ve grown psychologically & hope you can take something away as well:

1️⃣ Stage condition is not sustainable year round. It feels AMAZING but is not healthy for a body to be in a depleted state for a long period of time
2️⃣ The scale is a freaking number! Weight fluctuates from day to day, hour to hour. Depends on intake, sleep, stress, workout pattern...all kinds of stuff! Trust your gut with regard to how you feel
3️⃣ Reversing, building and offseason doesn’t mean we throw nutrition out the door. This is a lifestyle (albeit, a more flexible lifestyle in offseason !)
4️⃣ Just as I trusted my coach in prep, I trust him even more now...and I trust the process. Having the right people in your corner can change your life. DON’T SETTLE! I resonate so much with this. I hate when people shame me for showing off my hard work. Like I’m sorry. Did you wake up at 6am every morning for weeks on end to do fasted cardio? Or skip out on social event because you didn’t want to be tempted by food off of your diet? Or fight yourself mentally to not give into to cravings or any other things that didn’t line up with your goal? No? Oh ok then I will show off my body and my hard work as much as i want! 💪🏻👏🏻💁🏼‍♀️

I used to be a die hard member of #TeamNoDaysOff and I pushed myself to the limit every single day because that’s how the most progress is made, right? I was lost on my rest days, and I found myself subconsciously compensating in other ways, like lowering my macros or doing extra cardio
..
Thankfully, I now understand the importance of giving my body time to recover, restart, and relax. I love my rest days because it allows for me to focus on other aspects of myself and lets face it, it ain’t too shabby relaxing with some comfy clothes and a hot cup of coffee.

Besides kicking my feet up with a good book, I use glutamine, creative and ZMA to aid in the recovery process and I highly suggest all 3. If you have any supplement questions, I cant stress it enough; reach out to the guys behind @coalitionnutrition
