Today I fell off a southern corroboree frog. It's a wonder these guys are the endangered ones... 🐸 #fightingextinction #melbournezoo #zoosvic #idiot @zoosvictoria

Photograph by @chancellordavid - the birth of the gamekeepers son, Lachlan Alastair - 30.05.18 - 14.02H - 7lbs 9 - breathing new life and hope into the Cairngorms National Park, Invermark, Scotland - for generations these remote lands have been watched over by generations of gamekeepers. Skills and knowledge handed down from father to son. We are encroaching upon wild spaces at an alarming rate, boxing wildlife into smaller spaces, restricting its movement with walls, fences, and in many cases simply by our very presence on lands they previously moved freely across. The majority no longer understand that we all have a part to play in defining our relationship with both the land and the wildlife that it supports. We have become consumers no longer aware, or even caring about the origins of much of what we consume. Some do care, and thankfully that brings hope for us all. We must listen to those who have for generations shared these landscapes with wildlife, we for certain won’t agree with everything that they have to say, and many of their actions may initially confound us, but let’s at least listen - Follow my journey here @chancellordavid to see more work and projects @thephotosociety @everydayextinction @natgeo #conserving #conservation #scotland #cairngormsnationalpark #highlands #wildlife #fightingextinction

Photograph by David Chancellor @chancellordavid of Sir David Attenborough talking with a blind black rhino calf Nicky @lewa_wildlife northern Kenya - “I’ve always felt that Sir David Attenborough is part of my family, an uncle maybe, who travelled the World bringing stories of other Worlds to us. He’d talk to us through that magic window, presenting us with all manner of marvellous creatures seemingly known only to him. Many years, and a lifetime later, I found myself sitting in a Land Rover listening to that voice of reason; we all know and understand far more of the world thanks to Sir David. A world that has changed immeasurably, but the man remains constant, a bright light that we should all follow. It’s clear to me that If we do not lead by example and teach our children that it’s not our God given right to take what we want, when we want, then there is little hope for the myriad of creatures who inhabitant this planet alongside us. We must lead by example. Their World is no longer their own, infinite can no longer be used in Africa or elsewhere, animals are finite - with Sir David Attenborough 'Africa’ for the @bbc - to see more of my work and projects follow me here @chancellordavid @natgeo @thephotosociety and @everydayextinction #davidattenborough #blackrhino #northernkenya #conserving #conservation #withbutterfliesandwarriors #northernkenya #fightingextinction

This will be my office for the next few weeks. Jealous? I’m pumped for this massive field work project in the Capertee Valley, NSW. Sandstone cliffs, forested valleys, endangered honeyeaters and scientific investigations: a perfect combo!

Over the last 25 years, the giraffe population has dropped by 40%. They've now been added to the RED LIST of endangered species.

Why? They're being hunted as trophies by foreign visitors (mainly hunters from the USA). Hunting is not a sport. It's an uneccesary act of cruelty. 💔

Today we got to hang out with these absolute beauties ahead of World Giraffe Day this Thursday 🦒thank you so much for having us @zoosvictoria - your conservation efforts are amazing 🦒🧡 #werribeezoo #fightingextinction #zoosvictoria

Johari. 14 years old. Handsome as can be. Basically the lion version of Mick Jagger. And here’s a picture mid-awkward lick because it’s Wednesday!

I'm not sure what's sadder, this old taxidermy or that this is the only Orange Bellied Parrot many people have ever seen. #fightingextinction

That time I got to watch a Southern White Rhino undergo a health check on my second day on the job. With around just 20,000 of these rhinos left in the wild, these checks are an important part of the zoo’s breeding program. The work these keepers, vets and specialists do is mind blowing and their dedication to conservation gives me all the feels. So lucky to be a small part of this amazing organisation!

I took this picture last week, but today I’m reminded that I have one of the best jobs in the world working alongside some of the most amazing animals and people.
