Happy Sat. everybody- here I am in my Thinx - the underwear that eliminates the need for pads, liners and tampons.
I have to say - I love them and have used them for 3 cycles now. It’s hard to believe, but I didn’t need a tampon or pad after the first day.. only cuz I have IC and menorhaggia so I need supplemental products for the first day.
Other women I spoke to with heavy/ medium cycles had no need for pads or tampons for their entire period.
There’s a bundle discount on the website. This made more sense to me - otherwise the hip huggers I have on are $34. Ouch -I know, but in the long run it saves you money and saves the environment and your health.
There is a growing concern these days surrounding the lack of info. we get as consumers pertaining to the types of chemicals used to make feminine products.
This has me thinking about all the harmful chemicals I’ve possibly been absorbing thru my vulva via a tampon/ pad since I was 12 yrs old.
Then I thought- could there be a correlation between said chemicals and my chronic illness (Interstitial Cystitis)? 🤔 That would really suck! I know so many women sick with chronic illness and various reproductive disorders and cancers affecting the womb.
To wash Thinx- you have to rinse or soak in sink in cold water. I’m fine with this. Getting grossed out over our menstrual blood stems from 6,000 yrs of patriarchal conditioning making everything about women’s bodies disgusting and or taboo.
Menstrual stigma permeates our society -especially in the Latin and African American community. By talking and normalizing menstruation with both women and men - we make powerful changes “within” the patriarchy.
Hope this info helps somebody. Next I’ll write about my period proof bathing suit and the Chairish pad -the only pad with a negative ion strip.
