Glyphosate impairs the body's natural ability to detoxify itself. Apparently 85% percent of commercially produced tampons, cotton and sanitary products tested in a privately funded study contained glyphosate.
Most of the cotton production in the world is genetically modified, supposedly making is resistant to glyphosate. The glyphosate chemical is then sprayed when the bud is open and is therefore condensed, going straight into the cotton which is then used to make feminine hygiene products.
Some of the dangers that have been reported include:
Disrupted DNA transcription
Advanced cellular damage and death
Premature ovarian failure
Endocrine disruption (hormone inhibition)
The vaginal tissues are some of the most absorbent tissues in the human body. Each time you use a cotton tampon or pad, you may be absorbing these toxins. This may be harming your reproductive organs, which contain an innumerable amount of hormonal receptor sites and your eggs.
There have been debates to ban the use of Monsato products in South Africa, however that is still pending so we have to take into our own hands.
Some of the ways to protect yourself include using healthier alternatives such as: * organic cotton tampons or pads
* menstrual cups
* organic reusable pads.
