@thisisouractivism.2 Doesn't Understand 'White privilege.'
This is from their story: One of their admins made a lot of bold claims and they're worthy of debunking. .
◾Hiring Bias: Supposedly, blacks are less likely to get a call back from possible employers when they have a black name (They skin color for some reason). According to a 2016 study from the University Of Missouri, black and Hispanic names are treated the same as white names. The researchers said not to use this study as evidence that the hiring bias isn't true, but we can if this is one of the most recent studies. People did it for the studies that "proved" hiring bias anyways. The way they worded it sounded like it's face-to-face, if that's the case, there's more variables that go into play. .
◾Driving while black: This is actually true; black people get stopped more by cops because they commit more traffic offenses and have warrants out for their arrest which leads cops to stopping their cars and checking their cars. Not racism or ' white privilege.' Police harrasment = resisting arrest .
◾The great sentencing disparity: Blacks do get longer senentcing, but that's because they're more likely to be repeat offenders and this causes them to get hire sentences. A 2012 study by Sonja and Maritt found that, when taking into account a whole bunch of variables instead of only past crimes, the sentencing gap can be explained. What's left is also a result of charging differences. A 2013 study by Beaver also found that when holding criminal records and verbal IQ constant, the disparity goes away.
◾Hair: I hate this argument since it doesn't serve a purpose in anything. There's something called dress codes at a job, and employers sometimes don't want a certain type of hair. If there was an experiment of white women with 'black hair' and it showed that they were less likely to be fired than their black counterpart, I'll gladly concede this point. .
