At least 1, sometimes 2, meals a week I eat a bunch of carbs. I was curious to see how long it would take me to get back to ketosis after a carb heavy night on Saturday.
Saturday morning ketones were chugging along at 1.3 after 6 days of my normal meat+fat+veggies. Sunday afternoon I was surprised to see levels still at 0.6! It used to take me a couple days to get back into ketosis (above 0.5) after a cheat day.
This is the "metabolic flexibility" I've been chasing - the ability supply and use energy in all forms and switch fairly seamlessly between systems. It's not about carbs VS fat, but about carbs AND fat.
