The biggest misnomer when it comes to Fasting is that people automatically assume you are starving yourself. To be honest, that’s what I thought fasting was before I did my research and learned more about it. -

Starving yourself is when you don’t eat for extended periods of time, but when your do eat you don’t eat enough to provide your body with the essential nutrients and vitamins it needs to perform the proper bodily functions. Workouts suck, and energy levels are practically non-existent. Your hormones will also suffer, which will often lead you to binge eat due to extremely low ghrelin and leptin levels (hunger regulating hormones).

Intermittent Fasting on the other hand is going long periods without eating, typically 16-20 hours. HOWEVER, when you do finally eat, you are still getting all of your calories and nutrients in, just in a smaller eating window. You eat the same amount of calories as you would if you ate a typical breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Fasting also allows you to eat bigger more satisfying meals due to a smaller eating window. Also, extended periods of fasting has been shown to increase your natural HGH levels by up to 2,000% as well as testosterone. When you fast you are actually in an Anabolic State. -
