I decided that after ten years, I should finish off my 300 WSM. I originally bought it to build a 450 Marlin bolt action, but the damned thing shot so well out of the box that it would've been criminal to part it out.
The action's based on a Rem 700 SPS that's been fully blueprinted, the bolt sleeved, a Sako extractor installed, the handle Tig welded back on, the primary extraction and cocking angles re-cut, a Titanium firing pin and cocking piece installed with heavier firing pin spring, bolt knob's been changed each time I come up with a new idea, a Wyatt extended mag-box installed and the ejection port flared, and the base holes were trued and opened up to 8×40. It's had a few triggers on it but I keep going back to the first Shillen I put on it, and it's served me well at 1.5 lbs.
The current barrel's a Pac-Nor #4 25" 1:10 twist 5 groove with a SAAMI spec WSM chamber. The brake is one of our own RMR 3 port sporter brakes.
The stock's a McMillan Gamescout that I added LH flush cups to front and rear and score high pillars were installed to it.
The current metal finish is our Nightscape green powdercoat on the barreled action with the bolt body Teflon'd, but we just Cerakoted a few guns in Patriot brown and that colors growing on me! The stock's paint scheme was an idea I wanted to try out this week using a black and brown digital over tan and olive base.
I've shot a pile of game with this rifle, including the first wolf to be shot with a Berger 200 Hybrid, and the 5-20 Huskemaw's been a deadly asset on it!
