Bayern Munich have been linked with a late summer move for 2014 World Cup winner Julian Draxler following claims that he has no future at Paris Saint-Germain after the recent arrival of Neymar in a €222m world record deal.
German outlet WAZ speculates that Draxler, who recently captained Germany to glory at the Confederations Cup in Russia, would 'fit perfectly' into what Bayern require from the market.
The suggestion is that at a valuation of €40m, the 23-year-old would be a relative bargain.
An early injury has already seen summer signing James Rodriguez miss a handful of games, while Douglas Costa left for Juventus in July, and long-serving duo Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery are aged 33 and 34 respectively.
If Draxler really is to leave PSG, just six months after joining, it would be another setback in his relatively young career to date.
The player's talent has never been in doubt, but high profile moves since his early days at Schalke have failed to catapult him to elite level.
Having been heavily linked with Arsenal while still a teenager, Draxler was taken to Wolfsburg in 2015 as a replacement for Manchester City-bound Kevin De Bruyne. He wanted to leave after only one disappointing season and got his way six months later when PSG swooped.
But Neymar's arrival in Paris has apparently put his place under threat, with international commitments over the summer already delaying the start of his season. His saviour might come if PSG instead allow Angel Di Maria to move on amid rumoured Barcelona interest.
