Recently, a fellow influencer shared one of my posts in an effort to argue that smoothies are not a good meal replacement. CLEARLY she didn’t take the time to read what was actually IN my smoothies which brought up a good point for everyone to be aware of. NOT all smoothies are created equal! You must READ the labels very carefully, especially when grabbing for a quick "smoothie" to go at the store. Here is a great example:
❌NAKED GREENS & PROTEIN SMOOTHIE:
NOT a good meal replacement! First off, if you look at the ingredients, it is almost all fruit with a whopping 53 grams of sugar and ZERO fiber or healthy fats. There might not be added sugars, but all are from fruit juice concentrates, which means that most of the sugars are fructose—a sugar compound that can't even be used by your body to replenish its glucose-based energy stores - i.e. probably gets stored as fat. While it does have 30 g of protein - mix of whey and soy (big NO NO in my book🙅🏻) - this is just a blood sugar spike nightmare waiting to happen and will most likely leave you hungry and hankering for your next sugar fix within an hour. .
✅MY HOMEMADE GREENS & #PROTEINSMOOTHIE
Made from @drinkorgain plant based protein, spinach, avocado, lemon, chia seeds, cucumber, & almond milk, this smoothie is not only a perfect BALANCED #mealreplacement shake but will keep your blood sugar balanced and is full of enough protein, GOOD fat and FIBER to keep you satisfied and not reaching for your next sugar fix anytime soon! I sometimes add a 1/4 cup of fruit as well but try to limit my fruit intake as fructose sugar from excess fruit stores as fat 20-30% faster than glucose.
Think twice before picking up that "healthy" smoothie at your local juice spot or grocer babes. Where are all my fellow smoothie lovers at?! 😜💪🏻💯 P.S. #YourSoulSexy
