⚠️‼️INCOMING LONG ASS POST‼️⚠️
Hi! My name is Sara and when my world starts to come crashing down around my ears, I don’t do what healthy people do... I choose to cram pasta, potatoes, bread, and sugar into my face and chase it with cigarettes rather than eat nutrient rich foods and exercise. Because who needs a body-healing diet and sleep cycle when you can binge Netflix and carbs?!?! Allow me to explain my absence......
About a month ago my stepdad, who has battled a multitude of health problems over many years, fell and from several scans found gout in his knee as well as a tumor on his esophagus. After a biopsy and more scans, we have learned that the cancer is in the lymph nodes as well as on his liver. It is classified as stage 4, incurable but not untreatable. He came home the other day after having his chemotherapy port put in, we are unsure of what time we have... for now we’re taking things one day at a time.
Also a month ago: the salon where I work was franchised. My fellow stylists and I were given five days to prepare for changes in our pay, chain of command, day-to-day operations, and insurance eligibility. Our new owners are good people and I’m feeling optimistic, but cautiously so. It’ll take a few pay periods before I get fully into the swing of things and I’m still grappling with the sudden loss of my health benefits. I also had to have a bit of grieving time over a company that I had invested six years of literal blood, sweat, and tears into deciding to terminate me for doing nothing wrong. With no explanation other than money and no more than a few days notice. It’s been a jarring experience to say the least.
Finally: my best friend has had a difficult pregnancy (and that putting it mildly), lots of ER visits, falling, memory loss, medical leaves, and revoking of driving privileges... about two weeks before she was to give birth (or five weeks ago) her husband fell through a roof and miraculously survived the fall. He was injured but in good spirits when his son was born.
Manfriend has been an incredible support and has held my hand and wiped away many tears through these past weeks. (Continued in comments).
