F is for FATIGUE. And chemo drowns you in it. It wraps your tongue in thick hairy plastic so that nothing tastes the same. It makes your head pound and your bones ache. You feel like a shadow sucking the sunshine from your home. And the weight of that black heavy blanket feels like it may never lift.
Some days it's tough to smile. But you do. You find a reason. My reason is my girls. They push me through the fatal fog and break the dark thoughts and have me searching for eyelashes to drown in mascara.
And I make it. It's a brand new day. ☀

Do you feel worn out all the time? Then you may suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome, which causes you to feel so tired that you can’t complete normal, daily activities. It occurs when your body experiences more stress than it’s able to handle. Nowadays a lot of people have some level of adrenal fatigue. The main reasons are an unhealthy diet and/or lifestyle, lack of sleep, environmental toxins, chronic stress of daily life and work, and chronic degenerative disease.

Do you have trouble getting up in the morning and falling asleep at night? Then this can be one sign that you are suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome 😴.
How to face it? 👇.
1. Avoid Stress

First of all, you have to identify all the stressors in your life, and then step-by-step or drastically reduce them. We all have particular circumstances in our lives that cause stress. If we can identify these triggers, we may be able to avoid them or reduce their impact. I suggest you think of triggers in three categories: people, substances and situations.

2. Diet

Sugar and processed foods are very stressful for the body. Especially sugar has an enormous impact on your mood and adrenals. The first thing you have to do is avoid all kind of processed food. This will bring your blood sugar levels back into balance, and take an enormous burden of those poor tired adrenals. Try to eat a healthy, well balanced diet and check your vitamin B levels. Your body could be missing important nutrients and might need more zinc, potassium and magnesium as well.

3. Food intolerances and allergies

More and more research is pointing to a link between food allergies and sensitivities and chronic fatigue syndrome. Allergies to certain foods, pollen, metals and other environmental chemicals may be causing the rising number of individuals with CFS.

4. Relaxation Techniques

Whether it is yoga, meditation, deep breathing exercises, massage therapy or muscle relaxation techniques, find something you enjoy and integrate it into your everyday life.

Give your body what it needs to create the brain chemicals and good feelings you're seeking. Maybe you feel anxious, sad, and tired because you keep irritating your body and interrupting its important processes. Maybe it's not your job or your family that's killing your happiness. Maybe you'd be able to handle everything if you were better equipped physically. Think of nutrition as building an armor. Remember that you are in control!

WHOLE30 CHECK-IN✌🏻💁🏻.. I'm doing a-okay! Making food isn't as boring or limiting as I expected. I'm trying new ways of cooking and new recipes, which has gotten me out of the rut I've been in for months. So that's awesome 👌🏻.

Cravings aren't as strong, especially when I have a fat and protein-filled breakfast. But I have noticed that anxiety triggers sugar cravings for that dopamine release and calming effect, so it's being mindful of when I'm feeling that way and trying to calm my body down through a different mechanism, I.e. Some deep breathing or child's pose.

Digestion isn't perfect- by removing grains and legumes I got rid of some of the fibre in my diet. I'm trying to be conscious about replacing it with other fibre sources like chia, some flax, avocados and obviously vegetables and some fruit. I'm still experiencing some bloating and I haven't figured out why- perhaps I'm eating more of something that doesn't agree with me? Or there's a stress/mindfulness component. Still not sure. Still investigating 😉.

Regardless I'd say I'm doing pretty well since I have changed my diet quite a bit. I was eating animal protein about 3 times a week before and now I'm eating it every day so it's a big difference for me. I'm 8 days in and have another 22 to go. I'm curious to see how I feel after the whole 30 is done!

On my plate (this was dinner a few nights ago!)👉🏻 sautéed chicken in garlic, garam masala , cumin and curry + sautéed Swiss chard, yellow pepper, onion, broccoli and carrot + side serving of sauerkraut🙌🏻.
