I'd kind of been neglecting my run lately in order to get my swim & bike stronger. It made sense in my mind, got to make those cut offs right? And the run is at the end of the race & I can walk it. Wrong! It's still part of your race Kez! And I'm tired of being the slowest team member "still out on the run course." So this month, I knuckled down & committed to my run program. I've kept to my #longslowsundayrun numbers when it was more like a walk 🐢I've thrashed out my #tempotuesdays on the treadmill & celebrated each #fasttrackfriday Today I was super excited to head out & had a decided bounce in my step as I warmed up. That was quickly removed when I realized my 1km time trial was slower than last month 😭 As I walked around for recovery all of the negative thoughts came rushing back "You're so slow, you'll never get faster." And then I caught myself.
Pulled myself out of my pity party & reminded myself that I will need to run 42.2km in November, not just 1. It's a long race, not a sprint.
Head up, shoulders relaxed, music up load (so I can't hear my own gasping for air). 25 laps around the track, gauging my pace each km, willing myself into negative splits. I was 2'14" faster than last month 😎 So this month I was in the run lane, but hopefully soon I'll be in the Pass lane 🏃🏻♀️
