Whew, it’s been a minute! As a teacher and coach September is such a crazy month, and I knew I just needed to give myself some time to breathe and settle into the routine of the new year - and I know many of you feel the same way. Summer may be over but that doesn't mean the salads need to stop. Tonight we enjoyed this fabulous chili lime shrimp, pear, and corn salad. Loaded with good for you ingredients, this salad allowed us to savor some of the fruits and veggies of summer. This took about 30 minutes to make, was super satisfying, and enjoyed by all. Guys. No meal has ever tasted SO GOOD!!! I made it the FULL 24 hours 😱😱😱 fasting and then threw together this tasty meal! Harissa chicken in the instant pot with jasmine rice, tzatziki, and cucumber tomato feta salad. YAS. So much yas. #fwtfl #fasterwaytofatloss #24hourfast

Having your kitchen stocked with staples can save your checkbook and your waist line!! Tonight I had no dinner plan and no time to do a proper grocery run. I didn't want to go pick something up, as that usually results in poor food choices and spends money :) So with honey, GF soy, rice wine vinegar, garlic, GF Worcestershire sauce and a protein (frozen pork chops this time), I have dinner prepped in 10 mins and slow cooking til I am ready to eat (3 to 4 hrs). I will serve sweet potatoes along with it and will stay on track with my nutrition. With ABSOLUTELY NO STRESS !

Tomorrow begins a new journey for some very amazing people!! I am so excited to get started with another group of people ready to reach some goals. I listened to some of their goals this weekend... lower A1C and have pre-diabetes go into remission, lose 5 stubborn pounds of baby weight, have more energy to run and play WITH kids and not just watch. I can’t wait to see what they accomplish.

I had the BEST breakfast at #Eggstacy this morning in Scottsdale that fit my macros great! This was breakfast quinoa that had quinoa, walnuts, cranberries, apples, cinnamon and pure maple syrup. I will definitely be attempting to make this at home this fall. If I find a good recipe, I will be sure to share it. 🍽👌🏼

In the FASTer Way to Fat Loss®, we recommend working out while in a fasted state specifically for fat loss. This has been my preferred method for years if I exercise first thing in the morning. I’ve never liked food in my belly when I workout.🤢If I am training for athletic performance, however, I change my workout time to the right after work when I’m well nourished. This works super well for me. -

The question of whether or not you should workout on an empty stomach is quite controversial in the fitness world. Should you workout on an empty stomach? The answer depends on your purpose for exercise. If you are training for athletic performance, you need food on board so you can push harder and further. -

When it comes to fat loss, however, studies show that working out on an empty stomach burns more fat for the following reasons:

🏋🏼‍♀️ Maximizes your overall calorie usage. -
🏋🏼‍♀️ Creates the proper hormone balance to ensure maximal fat usage. -
🏋🏼‍♀️ Maximizes the Post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC) raising your metabolism (and therefore calorie usage) for a period of time following exercise. This applies to HIIT training and weightlifting in particular. -

Also known as oxygen debt, EPOC is the amount of oxygen required to restore your body to its normal, resting level of metabolic function (called homeostasis). It also explains how your body can continue to burn calories long after you’ve finished your workout. -

Even so, I’ve worked with many clients who just don’t feel well when they exercise on an empty stomach and the quality of their workout suffers. Bottom line, do what works for you. If your body does not adapt or the morning does not work in your life, the best exercise happens when you can consistently get it done and you do it in a way that allows you to generate the most intensity. -

I can’t believe it’s Sunday night already - where did the weekend go!? We were busy all weekend with post hurricane cleanup. Atlantic Beach is in bad shape, but it is amazing to see how quickly communities come together to repair and rebuild - I love this great state!

What’s on your meal plan this week? We just got a pig butchered so pork is it 🐷!On #lowcarbday we will be having pork. Switching up our meats throughout the week. Saturday is Lenoir Rhyne home football game and #legday with a 🍩 Y’all I am in better health and shape in years. Plus, I eat more now that ever before!
