Manuel reminded me we have these giant clown rubber bands at the studio for just this kind of assistance. Supposedly takes about 40lbs off your pull up. I'm pretty excited that that means I still pulled btw 100 and 110 lbs (I haven't weighed myself in years b.c. it's a pointless measurement of literally anything health and fitness related unless you're a dude looking to put on muscle..)so that's pretty awesome!
I wish I recorded the second set, they were actually way more energetic which was a surprise bc I did a whole bunch of push up things and heavy weight holding stuff in between. Nice to see the top of that bar.. always wondered what it looked like from a grimace..πŸ’ͺ🏼

Is it weird to Repost your own post? Yesterday was my 12 year anniversary living in Brooklyn. I've been struggling with how to mark it bc normally I would take a long walk with my sweet girl who would have been 14 yesterday and πŸ“Έ another year around the β˜€οΈ together. I cry for her every day at some point or another. Mornings and night are hardest, a terrible ache instead of the presence of her sweet spirit. But I do feel each year here should be celebrated.. bc it is so very hard to live here and because where we grow is where we live and I believe in growth. So here's my bday post. It speaks to this anniversary too. πŸ’–πŸ’ͺπŸΌπŸ’–

What's the hashtag? #thisis fill in your age? Well, #thisIs36 Each year I get older I feel physically stronger, more grounded and more centered as a person which also means more alive in my body. This year I really left all my body BS behind. I can't even conjure it up on a bad dayπŸ‘ŠπŸΌ guilt over eating sounds like trying to remember what it felt like to visit another dimension, body hate? Did I really ever do that? It's like a vague vague dream from long ago.
Instead I'm filled with the sense of a better known, better understood, better discovered, lived in, loved body. A happy body, a sensual body, a strong, capable, joyful body. A body that this year danced in Brussels, ate in Paris, dogsled in the arctic circle, hiked in the Rockies and all around hustled lived loved and lost (πŸ’”πŸΆ) in Brooklyn. I love my body, i love my strength, and both arrived in this place because of all of the living loving losing and hard core question asking and self reflection/ growth I've been asking of myself for a very long time. There have been teachers, books, inspiring moments people and places but most useful has been anything which emboldened my trust in myself. Once you trust yourself, paths to your own wellness become more clear with less anxiety clouding every choice. So this is 36. Stronger than 35, more knowledge, more love, more freedom, more growth, more play, more content, more eager to rest (less ego more self care), more excited to #keepgrowing I couldn't be anywhere else but here + now.

Well, I learned a lot of things by recording this. 1. The reasons my L stand sometimes still doesn't work after being pretty solid recently. (Arms too far away!.. and being really tired after a lot of kettlebells earlier..)
2. A reminder that this odd abdominal exercise- literally using your abs to press your legs into the wall- has been the most useful strengthening exercise for my arm balance work yet. πŸ’ͺπŸΌπŸ™ƒ

I definitely thought I'd be spending the week doing upside down work since hanging stuff isn't available (nothing to hang from up here) buuuut I've been really vacationing instead; slow mornings, some naps, a lot of long walks, hikes and evenings watching birds, clouds and trees from various sitting positions, most often with a homemade, made up cocktail in my hand... so here's how I finished my workout last week. Getting in my strength and stability work on my way to future real pullups (πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’ͺ🏻) Manuel taught me these. They are no joke. Sore today, stronger tomorrowπŸ‘ŠπŸ» working out to develop skills is so much more fun and makes pushing through difficult #werk exciting..I recommend finding something you'd like to be able to do and making that your goal, even if it's just being able to carry groceries up your walk up without feeling like you're gonna die. It's way better than self punishment or "not chubby" as your internal #

Taught from 10AM to 9:30PM with about two 20 minute breaks where I threw food in my face, did an upper body strength workout, made phone calls and did email... the rest of the day was jam packed back to back people teaching plus a sweet break to teach my monthly #fasciaexorcism workshop at @weareprolific each month these hip peeps have a few more questions and a few more transformations-i couldn't ask for more!
I couldn't do a day like this unless I was endlessly fascinated and delighted watching people change their sense of what's possible in their bodies. .. plus a lot of my clients are very funny☺

70lb squats. I'm really in love with my new strength training regime much inspired by my experience with @portal.ido @odeliagold @liav_memada @bouldermovementcollective I will write it down in longer form when I have time off next week ( πŸŽ‚πŸ˜‹) but suffice to say basically since the election of a hateful serial abuser to lead our country some major shift started in me and a lot of reasons for working on my physicality were questioned. I have been in a flux questioning, being curious, practicing a lot of self care and gentleness.. then at this workshop ideas clarified and I also discovered I'm really really strong.. so now I'm like owning that, living it, challenging myself to discover more about what my innate strength means.. that's very exciting and inspires my curiosity which is my best personal motivation for 'moving in challenge' (which is my definition of 'working out') I hope I translate at least some of that experience to you all in class and sessions so you can get/ stay inspired to keep/ start moving. πŸ’ͺπŸ½πŸ’•πŸ’ͺ🏻

My new strength goals mean suffering a bit in things that are actually just damn HARD. I learned my left side was significantly less strong or connected feeling than my right so part of my training has been adding something extra to my side planks and then doing more on my left side.. this week, this balance board thing and holding it for several sets of 30 seconds.
What you can't see is my grimace face and me hyperventilating through the last 5 seconds of each set... you know when you hold planks in class and I tell you you can hold it longer than you think? You have another 5 seconds in you?.. you really really can and you really really do. πŸ’ͺ🏾πŸ’ͺ🏽πŸ’ͺ🏻πŸ’₯
