The 2018 farallon season has officially come to an close. Despite some funky weather this year, this season managed to be better than the last and had some amazing shark sightings! This video is from one of our last days out and was a great way to finish off the season. On this day we had a shark hit one of our decoys first thing when we arrived. An hour later a shark make a kill on an elephant seal. We were able to watch the shark feed and then drift in the blood slick. As you can see, there were some scraps left floating around and as one passed by the boat, a white shark found it and swam off happier than a bird with a french fry! At the end of the video you see it swim by a 6 foot surfboard which gives a good size reference. I would say 13-14ft and this shark was definitely the smallest of the 4 that we saw on this day. Now before anyone gets upset that we have a surfboard out in the water, understand that I myself am a surfer and this is my board. I will delve more into this on a future post, but feel free to message me if you want to discuss it.
