(near) CHARLESTON, SC: There are a lot of great dog loving homes out there that 8 year old Ducky would fit right in to, but this sweet fella has been waiting two months already at the shelter without a drop of interest. Frustrating! Ducky's shelter is hoping SSD can make the difference; he's already had a slew of media attention with no luck. Ducky can live with other dogs and prefers mild and mellow personality types. Let's get this boy a family! PLEASE SHARE! 🐶
A shelter staff member wrote, "We have had poor Ducky in our shelter since May 4th. Ducky was brought to our open-admission shelter as a #stray. He is sweet as can be, and walks on a leash, so he must have had a family – but they didn’t come looking for him, and we can’t find them. And so he has sat for nearly two months in a kennel. The concrete runs are hard on his old bones, and he struggles to get up from his Kuranda bed 😕 (but he will manage to every time, if you’re holding a treat!). Ducky has searched everywhere – he was on TV and the radio; he has made appearances on Facebook, but nobody has come forward to adopt him yet.
Ducky doesn’t much like going out in the yard for play groups – this old man wants to amble around sniffing flowers and not have other dogs jump on him to play. He’s indifferent to mild mannered dogs' existence, for the most part. He just wants to be left alone. The only issue we’ve seen is if he’s playing in the yard and a hyper dog jumps up on him, he stops and glares at them. He doesn’t growl or bite – he just gives them a very no-nonsense look! I wouldn’t be concerned about aggression with him and any animal or person.
Ducky has an enlarged prostate – so he has to pee a lot. He’s a little bit blind from cataracts; and a little bit deaf from old age. He loves going for walks (at his own pace); he loves any kind of treats; and he loves to have his head scratched. He just wants to get out of this loud, bright shelter and find his family."
