16 years ago I took my watch off and tossed it deep into the south Texas brush. Leaving a job in commercial real estate in Atlanta, I fully embraced running our family's ranch and have Loved the lifestyle that it has provided me. I may have sacrificed a lot of money in potential income, but I am a Far richer man today than I could have ever imagined. The sense of accomplishment and the friends I've made along the way cannot be measured in dollars..
The early days were long, tedious and there was (and is) no such thing as 9 to 5, or Monday through Friday. Hell, more than a few times I would drive into Rio to run errands, walk up to the bank and shake the locked door in frustration, then realize it was Sunday.
I still love that life. I still love our ranch.
But life has a way of changing. Sometimes in ways we could Never see coming.
So yesterday I decided to once again follow my heart and for the first time in nearly two decades, I strapped a watch on my wrist.
It feels like it weighs about 20 lbs., it will Never calm my #gypsysoul , but I kinda like it...and I Really like the reason it matters again.
