💚 E V E 💚
Whilst at the Eden Project, @_emmacroker_ and I went to Story Time in the Mediterranean Biome. The story was about a Cornish giant Eve who was very beautiful. While everyone constantly told her that she was beautiful, she did not feel beautiful. This made her sad and so, she sought help from the wise magician. He told her that she would need to travel to the Forest of Knowledge to find the answer to her problem. Determined to find this answer, Eve travelled the 50 day and 50 night-long journey. But once she got there, she was greeted with trees that bore mirrored bark. She looked at the many reflections of herself and saw a beautiful giant. This was disappointing as it only showed her what she already knew, though it did not change how she felt.
Soon after she arrived, a very weary Prince who had also made the journey arrived at the Forest. Newly made king following his father's death, the prince doubted his ability to lead a Kingdom, and had come to the Forest to seek some help. Eve helped the Prince, as he was low on energy after 50 days and 50 nights of travelling, and showed him the mirrored bark. When the prince saw the mirrors and his reflection, he realised what it meant: that HE was the answer - he had the strength and courage to battle the challenges ahead. He thanked Eve and told her she was beautiful. But this time, it was not because of her appearance. She had helped him to see what he had not been able to see before. Eve finally felt beautiful.
Returning to the magician, Eve said that she wanted to help EVERYONE find the magic of the Forest without having to travel the great distance. So, with some magic, the magician gave Eve a permanent mirrored mask. Anyone who looked at her now saw themselves with the courage and strength they require to change their world for the better, for both themselves and others.
Eve continued this for many centuries until one day, exhausted, she lay down and fell asleep in a big clay pit. Eve is still sleeping in that clay pit, which is now the Eden Project. Her mirrored face continues to remind us that we have the courage and strength to make the world a better place 🙏🏼💚
