There's this term that pops up now and again in the Scriptures called the "image of God". It is said that mankind was created in God's image, and that every man, woman, and child to ever walk the earth bears this image.
But other than the fact that this makes all human life sacred, very little is actually explained about what this term really means. In fact, it barely ever even shows up in the writings. Its an idea, among a few others, that the Bible is surprisingly silent about. Rather than have it spelled out for us explicitly, we are left to wonder, search, and discover.
Part of being image-bearers, I am discovering, is that we have been created with the capacity to create, like our God and Father. Just as in the beginning, when God said "Let there be light," so too, every day we have the power to speak into being life, light, love, and hope- or other things- in our lives and the lives of those around us. Every day when we awake, we are given the power through faith to experience reality by speaking back the truth and promises that God has revealed to us, by living them out and declaring them in the world around us. We can sow and reap bitterness, hopelessness, enmity, and death- or choose by faith to speak forth light, peace, love, and life.
The question then is: what will you create today?
Props to the homie @justinrauchphotography for taking this rad photo the other night.
