Will this be our new view? This view encompasses things about Tokyo that I love: the constant race into the future, the fierce connection to tradition. The Tokyo Tower is seen in the distance as a beacon to tourists, yet down below are more traditional houses and to the side (not pictured) is a Buddhist temple and cemetery. A quick walk around the corner leads you to the subway or to sushi, the other direction leads to a modern grocery store. This is the heart of it all. #tokyo #japan #thisisjapan #expat #expatlife #expatlifecycle #expatinjapan #travel #wanderinglife #wanderlust

Today I read a story on Quora about a foreign girl’s experience in Japan 🇯🇵. She was sharing that she felt discrimination and not accepted in the society in spite of speaking the language and having a good job. In the end, she left the country. But I felt her story was filled with sadness sadness and even regret, after spending so much time and efforts for nothing.
.
.
Well… I understand her feelings as I lived in Korea 🇰🇷 and Japan 🇯🇵 for 16 years, and I have seen so many friends leaving Asia because they couldn’t “take it” anymore. However, I believe it’s all about finding your own way, based on the understanding of the local culture and values as well as its strengths and weaknesses and adapting your path accordingly. It takes more work, time and patience but it’s the only solution. .
.
Would you like to hear my stories about my experience in Asia? 👇👇👇

Japanese steak is usually oily (at least for me), but tasty! This one’s at ステーキのどん (Don’s Steak) in Saitama City. Worth a try! おいしかったです。( ◠‿◠ )

Okinawa I can do without your humidity...and your rain.
Let's go back to days like this.
