Two weeks ago, Cyclone Debbie happened and many parts of Far North Queensland and the Southeast were ravaged with massive recovery efforts still ongoing in many of these places.
Lives were lost, properties damaged and livelihoods destroyed and the government has indeed been swift and decisive in its efforts to rescue and restore order to those affected.
While there aren't large numbers of international students residing in those regional areas, I can imagine how terrifying and distressing it must be to have your education disrupted and having to cope with all that chaos.
During next week's briefing, I hope to find out what does the State plan to do in helping international students get on with their lives? We bring income, jobs, growth and diversity into the regions so it's only fair and right that international students are well-looked after and included in all assistance schemes for local communities.
If you know of any international student who has been affected by the cyclones, please put them in touch with me! #cyclonedebbie #excyclonedebbie #premiersbriefing #queenslandgovernment #StudyQueensland #queensland #internationalstudents #internationalstudent #cisa #councilofinternationalstudentsaustralia #qisap
