Schizophrenia is a chronic and severe mental disorder that affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves. Symptoms of schizophrenia may include delusion, hallucination, disorganized speech, grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior, and negative symptoms such as diminished emotional expression (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Schizophrenia affects around 400.000 people in Indonesia (Riskesdas, 2013) and more than 21 million people worldwide (WHO, 2016). However, professional help does not reach most of them and people suffering from the disorder are still heavily stigmatized. A better understanding of schizophrenia will help to fight the stigma.

Radiation treatment for cancer is very effective in killing cancer cells and often used as adjuvant therapy post-surgery.⠀

Toxicity may be acute (burnt skin, cough, pains) but can also present years later as a progressive condition called radiation fibrosis syndrome (RFS). ⠀

RFS can affect any tissue type, including the skin, ligament, tendon, muscles, viscera, nerve, as well as lungs, the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts, bone, or other organs, depending upon the treatment site.⠀

I mentioned the other day there are 4 known physiological mechanisms of acupuncture and the first of improving blood flow!

This is a thermo image of a patient’s neck before and after distal acupuncture treatment curtesy of my colleague in Australia @innovative_health .
It’s quite clear that there is significantly more blood flow to the area post treatment which will provide lasting healing and pain relief!
