The discovery of just how easy marinades are to make – literally stirring all the ingredients together, and the amazing difference they can make to a plain meat or vegetable dish was nothing short of a miracle to me. I had been missing out all these years, imagining sauces and marinades took hours of boiling and simmering of magical ingredients only available from mythical marketplaces when it couldn’t be further from the truth. I had also been fed up as a vegetarian, of eating dried up veggie sausages off the barbecues in the summer so the discovery of the simple marinades for veggie dishes as alternatives to barbecue sauces was a real treat for me. One thing is for sure, no shop bought jar of sauce has made it into my fridge or cupboard since learning these recipes and it’s saved me a fortune as well! Plus you can make them with everyday ingredients and you don’t really need any specialist expensive kitchen kit. I hope you enjoy making these simple, straightforward, classic and unusual flavors in your own kitchen to try out with your family
