Making ethical choices is very important to me and I try to make sure we spend our money wisely for the health of our family but also other families and the planet. I want my child to have opportunities but I also want other children to have opportunities too. I want the families of the farmers who grow my food to be supported, earning fair wages for their hard work and the quality crops they produce, and I want them to have the chance to make partnerships with buyers who meet these needs. That is why we always choose fair trade whenever possible, and definitely important when it comes to crops like coffee, chocolate and sugar - these crops are notorious for being grown by people who are taken advantage of by big business. I will not be part of that. Farmers who grow fair trade products receive a fair price, and their communities and the environment benefit as well. Organically grown is very important as well because conventionally grown coffee is heavily, heavily sprayed with toxic pesticides - I will not put these in my body and I don’t want farmers to be exposed to them either, I want them to be safe. Try to think of everyone, the collective, the greater good when you make your choices - it’s not just about you and me but about US. I drink maybe 2 cups of coffee a month (the coffee drinker in our house is my hubby) and I want them to be the best. Ethical Bean delivers - a local Vancouver company with the absolute best tasting beans (so says my coffee snob man who rejects so many brands) that are ethically and organically grown. WIN for everyone!
